Get real, ladies! It’s time to back away from the harsh styling products and let that “real hair” flow! Check out these exclusive tips from Tyra’s own Glam Squad stylist on how to keep your hair healthy.

Tip One for Avoiding Breakage

Infuse Moisture - When hair is dry it's more brittle and likely to break.Use a heating cap or sit under a dryer with conditioner in to really infuse moisture into the hair.

Tip Two for Avoiding Breakage

Handle wet hair with care - Hair is most vulnerable to breakage when wet.Be careful when combing or brushing it.

Hi Tyra. I totally agree about the washing of the hair but sometimes i feel strange to tell people i havent washed my hair in 2 weeks. Im so glad you understand LOL. I am Puerto Rican and Italian and I have naturally curly hair that is so hard for me to handle. It takes me over an hour to blow out my hair and even more time after to flatten with the straightener to get it flatter. I need my hair to be dirty so that I can get that natural oils for it too look better. I hate that I have to plan in advance to put time aside so that I can wash my hair and do it.

Tyra! You should do a show about black men hair! That would be very interesting. MC

Hi Tyra, thank you for the tips on real hair. I have to disagree with the "washing every two weeks" because coarse hair is prone to dryness it actually should be washed more frequently, but with a moisturizing shampoo or co-wash method. Lovely ponytail!

I love your natural hair. It is gorgeous and really compliments your beauty. Some of your other styles were a distraction.

hi, Tyra i love ur show and i'm a big fan of u. so since you are the beauty queen i wanna tell u something about my hair, it's long not very kinky but i feel like it's sort of dry all the time and i did everything i could but it didn't work.

Hi, Tara. I watched your episode, and checked your site. I do not wrap my hair, I try but get frustrated. My hair is so thick that it does not stay while wrapping, and during the nights. Any tips on management? By the way I am Korean and Black, and did not get the "pretty" mix hair. My hair is thick, dry (damaged), and just.... I don't know what to do with it. HELP!! =) Thanks so much. Crystal

I don't understand because the tips say for virgin hair. When I watched the show, your wet hair was pin straight almost. Is that your natural hair texture/pattern? Anyway, I think it's great that you are influencing others to embrace their beauty. As for natural hair (not processed/relaxed), it would be awesome if you got people on the show from websites like curlynikki.com, naturallycurly.com, tightlycurly.com, etc (even the long hair care forum website where some ladies who have perms take care of it very well and have hair down their backs). Even having hair care lines like Mixed Chicks, Curls, Kinky Curly, and Miss Jessie's and authors like Lorraine Massey ("Curly Girl"), and Chicoro ("Grow It") on the show would be great. You could do a hair based show once or twice per month and have people come on there with updates showing how your show has helped them to maintain/improve the health of their hair (that could go for overall healh and weight maintenance/weight loss). OMG Tyra I have soooo many ideas. I think I've written enough lol. Keep inspiring! ~Lucy~

Wow, Tyra your real hair looks very nice :-)

Wonderful hair tyra. Ur beautiful inside and outside

good loook

You wash your hair everday, If you don^t Your hair will fall out.

I have to say that I agree with Dani. Tyra you look so much better with your real hair. You should be an example and a leader in promoting natural hair on your show. Although we as African American women know we are beautiful with our natural hair, we consistently feel it necessary to wear fake hair. And for you to speak out on it but still do it is ... I'm sorry to say but a little hyprocritical. And another issue that should be raised is the perming of the hair. We say wearing weave is trying to be like White americans but perming one's hair is also trying to be like them but who will actually go as far as to stop perming there hair? Especially in the society we live in today? Not too many girls have the guts to do it since we all are trying so hard to conform to this materialistic fashion driven world.
