Tyra, I just found out that you did this show. I think this is one of those factors that sets you above the rest of the crowd of hosts - you're not afraid to tackle real controversial issues. Some comments left here try to discount these men as at least bisexual or gay, because most folks can't see how a man (who is heterosexual) could sleep with another man for money. There are many factors that help with the scenario - most won't admit it, but some form of drugs are usually involved to loosen everyone up for the event. The standards and requirements for straight male porn actors is quite stringent (depending on the director and production company) and the pay is not as good as it is for men willing to act in gay porn. However, it is highly disappointing that I've read how a customer at Subway outed "Kurt" and had him fired - that's very un-American of Subway, firing someone based on their own moral standards of what they think an employee should be, disregarding that some folks have to pay the bills, no matter what the costs. I have family members in the stripping and escorting job arenas and the money is decent, since they are female, but the jobs are not easy. From stories I've heard, some of these female escorts are completely lesbian, but are good at "performing" for their clients, which earns them much $$$.
I agree with posters Patrick and "they are Gay"( 01/22/09 11:02 PM) I there is nothing wrong with straight people working as bartenders in gay clubs cuz its a job and its something u can make good money off and something that can bring gay and straight people together. (we all know gay people are usually the big spenders *cough cough* Raises hand)However and this is really important. There is no way in hell a straight person, is going to take up themselves and have sex with another man without anyone forcing them for love nore money and the adult industry is not an industry where...you leave high shcool "oh yea I wanna be porn star because I'm passionate about it" Some DO. But those who do it do it and love it and have love their job. Just go down to playboy and ask allot of the girls. But straight guys who are gay for pay? Nah, thats BS. Because if they want a career they would have used the money from porn and go to college and get their degree (even if just after the 2nd or 4th time) because I know money from one gay photoshoot (30-40,000 for non-amature models) is enough to send someone to a very good school for 4 full years! I have been thinking about the comments made on this show for a couple of days. I do not understand how straight bartenders fall into a gay for pay segment. They are serving drinks in a gay bar and of course all bartenders flirt, feign interest in their customers, etc to increase tips. There are straight women who serve in gay bars and they flirt with the gay men too! How does that make then gay for pay? I have seen a few photos from both the gay for pay performers' videos at hunkhunter.com. I beg to differ with them that they are not aroused. They are full participants in a variety of sex acts. Not that it takes much to get any male gay or straight aroused, why cannot a straight guy act out and participate in a gay sex scene and still remain attracted to only females in their personal life? It's called acting! Just because Heath Ledger played a gay character who participated in much simulated gay sex, that did not make him gay. Lastly, I do not agree with the editor of the Advocate. If we gays advocate equality, it is hard to have a discriminating attitude about straight guys working in gay bars.
Dear Tyra, Honestly, I now feel really guilty for being a consumer of porn after hearing what Annie had to say. It makes me very, very sad to think that my own personal fun, and the demand for porn, forces these actors further into doing things that make them feel empty inside. I don't know if I've ever seen any of Kurt's videos, but I honestly wish him (and the other guys as well) the best and I hope he will be all right and just live a happy life outside of the industry soon. I just want to say real quick and this has been bothering me for since I saw the show. Cleopatra was NOT of African descent. Elizabeth Taylor was an ok choice for the role, because Cleopatra was from GREECE. Since Alexander the Great took over Egypt hundreds of years prior to her arrival to Egypt--those of Macedonian (or Greek)descent ruled. Celopatra was an Egyptian Queen but that does not make her from Africa, necessarily. Many kings and queens throughout history were from other countries and regions--for instance, France and Spain often intermarried. Please learn something before you make judgmental statements to people on the show and to those of us at home, I am very sad that this common known FACT is still being misconstrued by so many people and on t.v. no less!
i believe you can be both attracted to women and men. im 15 years old and a girl but i know im attracted to both girls and guys. girls are so gentle and caring and know what to say and do to make you feel special and loved. guys are assertive and know what they want. it upsets me that people dont except bisexuals. i havent told anyone about me being bi. i wish i could tell my mom but i brought it up to her in general one time and she freaked out and told me how wrong it was to her...but she is totally fine with gays. i just dont get it. i wish people would except the fact it is possible to find both genders appealing that way i could come out and be able to be myself completely

All the guys in that show were gay. I don't care what they say. A football player who doesn't like playing football, but plays it for the money is still a football player. It is quite common for Eastern European models to do Gay videos for the money. Many are married. The Hungarian wrestling team, a few years ago, was barred from competing, when it was revealed a number of them were doing Gay porn.
