Honestly?are you guys being serious right now? Tyra is definitely not an ignorant woman at all, so obviously some of the people writing some of these rude untrue facts about Tyra are not true fans or don't know all that much about Tyra. She is probably one of the most down to earth celebrities out there and at least has a clue what their doing and actually helping others and talking about things that matter. And even if she DID make a mistake about Cleopatra, who cares? She makes mistakes, just like everybody else. There doesn't need to be this big uproar about it. But anyway, I think that gay for pay is kind of odd. I don't get it. There's plenty of other ways for these men to make money. I know if i was one of their spouses or wives i would not feel comfortable with what he was doing. And yes some of them probably are straight, which i don't really care about, but if they are straight then why are they portraying something they aren't? This whole topic confuses me, but that's just me. Anyway i just thought i might put my own opinion up on here. And please give Tyra the respect she deserves on her OWN website. Thanks (:
Reply to Elicia. There is no need to insult anyone or get angry because of the corrections anyone made. We just stated a simple fact. Tyra's point about Elizabeth Taylor is that she was a white woman portraying Cleopatra when she was really black. I'm not insulting Tyra, if i didn't like her, why would i watch her show? Tyra probably thought that Cleopatra came from Egyptian decent, many people do make this mistake.
Hello Tyra: I watched your show on "Gay for pay" today- It was very interesting. What I found most interesting was how the porn stars kept on making excuses for not being Gay. As far as I know a really straight guy does not even think Gay thoughts let alone "get it up" for another guy. They are Gay but can't admit it, I can't understand a straight guy getting it on with another guy no matter what they say. Thank you, have a nice day!
I have one thing to say: Hells to the no!!!
Sorry ladies - these men are gay. no way they can get aroused to do the things they do with other guys and not be gay.
I wouldn't mind if my boyfriend were "gay for pay"...or even bisexual for that matter. Homosexuality and bisexuality is not the major issue, safety is. Condemnation leads to so many negative and dangerious behaviors. People are going to be who they are going to be regardless, especially where sexuality is involved..the answer is to create an environment that strongly promotes or even enforces health and safety.
Hi Tyra, It is my understanding that the porn industry is about big business and money, hence "industry". Capitalism is all about making money and competition. The people who "perform" the best in an interview or a job, make the most. I don't have a problem with gay for pay if they are ok with it themselves. I just think that people who do have a problem might be jealous that they are not able to do it themselves for one reason or another. That being said, if my bf were into that, I wouldn't stick around, which is a character judgment that I make about all porn actors.
If my guy went gay for pay it would be over right then and there. I wouldn't care if he was working in a gay bar that's fine as long as he isn't going home with them. But the whole porn thing? It wouldn't matter if it were straight or gay porn, the fact that they are sleeping with other people to me is infidelity and I don't put up with that. As well, in my personal opinion anyone that has sex for money is a type of prostitute and that's just nasty!
wow all these "smart" people throwing their facts around, last time i checked she's making money doing what she's doing you aren't it's her show you're not gonna change it . And oh yeah i belive she said "In the MOVIE cleopatra" in the first movie she was played buy a black woman not a white woman thats what she meant she's totally not trying to say something false. Oh yeah one more thing for all you smart people, you did watch the show because you were curious as to what it was about didn't you no one made you watch it.
As I gay male, I feel that I am judged "differently" for whatever reason. But it is very accepting that a male who marries is viewed in a different way. My beef is that my sexual parents have been so called married men who are on the lookout for male sex--get-- and go back to their wives and so-called straight lives. Gays are discriminated against even though times have changed and ideas have changed but what about all these married men who have man-to-man sex on a regular basis. Sometimes, living in a small community I get the feeling that I would love to expose them.Perhaps Tyra needs to explore this avenue on her show.
I happen to work in the gay porn industry - behind the scenes - and I'd say that about 1/2 the guys identify as straight. I don't necessarily believe that all of them are exclusively straight but a large percentage really are. More importantly, most are really great guys. Money is a motivator for most, but many also have an exhibitionistic streak that working in gay porn serves.
So, not to sound really nerdy, but I NEED to correct Tyra. She likened straight men working in gay clubs to Elizabeth Taylor playing a "black woman" in Cleopatra. I hate to disappoint her, but Cleopatra was NOT black. While she was born in Egypt, most pharaohs of Egypt came from Macedonia (Greece). So she most likely had light skin and there is a lot of study showing her having blonde hair. Also Cleopatra and her brother Ptolemy had Greek names. Nerdy comment over.
Tyra, I just watched your gay for pay show and I notice that you kept cutting off the guest; normally I wouldn't care, but, I was interested on what they had to say.
After watching the show i felt that i need to make a correction. Tyra said that Cleopatra was black. This is not the case. Her bloodline is Greek. She is a descendant from the Ptolemy line. Ptolemy took over Egypt when Alexander the great died.
I come across the Tyra Banks show about once a month and each time I am equally appalled. She constantly is trying to put together shows in which she is the most ignorant person in the room on the subject matter. From being poor, to being ugly, to being overweight, and now the gay community- Tyra obviously knows nothing about these subjects and comes off more offensive than the sometimes offensive guests. Give it up, stick to being "fierce" and smiling with your eyes. Oh, and Cleopatra ruled in Egypt, but she was Hellenistic- Egypt was ruled by a Greek aristocracy at that time.
