I believe that when you become a mother you need to act like a mother. If you happen to be stipper when this happends you should change your priorities and look for a more approproite career. I'm not saying you should give up your talent; stripping can still be a hobbie that you do in the privacy of your own home, but not for an audiance. Being a mom is the most amazing job in the world, your children teach you more than you think. They look up to you as a mom to make the right decision and to protect them. Personally I don't respect women who strip for living. I understand that while stripping could earn you a lot of money in a short amount of time but you could also become a dancer and keep your clothes on. Besides love is what keeps a family together not money.
Tyra, I have to say I think you were a bit harsh and out of line on today's show. I am a married mother of 3 and while I personaly don't think I would ever make a choice to work in the sex industry, I do understand the "hustle" those mother's have chosen to take care of their families. Tamara was right when she said that she didn't have people lined up at her door when she couldn't work a traditional job to feed and clothe her kids. The bills are still due no matter what! Tamara...you do you, cause Tyra's gonna do Tyra after you are long gone from her show! My mom was a single mom and as an adult, I respect what ever she had to do to take care of me. I never remember being hungry, without a roof over my head, clothes, electric, gas, water, etc...Thank you mom! Oh...Tyra, some would argue that YOU have worked in the sex industry? Last time I checked, men see you in S.I. and V.S. and their mind is on sex.
What an incredible tirade of self-righteous judgment on Tyra's part! Whassup? Has she been 'born again' overnight? I was disgusted at the bullying the two mothers suffered and I hope the 'experts' in the audience aren't licensed therapists because they were just as bad. Easy for Tyra to say they should 'do something else'. Let HER give them a job or support their families. I'm sick of rich self-absorbed celebrities telling the rest of us what's right and wrong!
I think that the job does not determine the whether or not a person can be a good parent or mother. It is the character and the ability to be a responsible adult. There are mothers that work the traditional job that are not great parents. So who decides? I believe that as long as work stays a work, and at home there is structure and consistency, love and nurturing then there should be no issues. Stripping is merely entertainment, acting mostly. There are always gonna be those in the industry like anywhere else that will take it to unnecessary extreme. They should be judged individually. For instance all celebrities are not positive role models for their children. Ultimately if the children do not seem to be affected negatively by mom's job, then everyone should just mind there own business.
So yeah, I'm glad i'm not the only person who was ultra pissed after watching Tyra today. I may have to stop watching the show after today. It's a sad day when tyra's ignorant obnoxiousness causes her to lose viewers. I bet had Tyra's mother come out and told her she had to do some things Tyra might not be proud of to support herself and her child then Tyra would have had an episode about that. I would honestly expect that a black girl from compton who broke down so many doors to be more understanding to the things mothers have to do to survive. But then again, she has never had to live a "real life" she's been a model since she got out of high school AND she went to a private religious school right? I shouldn't be surprised that she is so closeminded and judgemental. Shame on you Tyra.
Don't judge!! Those of you who are judging haven't had it hard. Yes, there are other jobs but, do they pay the bills? Alot of us are a divorce away from the welfare line. These women are doing what they need to do to support their families the best way they can. Also, Tyra, your question about "Would you rather have a new computer and you mother be a dominatrix or would you rather have a used computer and your mom do somthing else?"?(I know I quoted but it's jist of what you said) How about you have NO computer or college education because there is no money? I don't doubt these kids are hurting, but are they turning anything down that their mothers have given them? Clothes, money, etc? You, as the host of a show, need to be neutral, instead of instigating discontent.
These moms are doing what they have to in order to feed and clothe their kid. Often, single moms do not make enough money to support their kids. Child support helps a little, if she can get the man to pay, but it's not enough. I feel that we shouldn't judge these women. They're just doing what they have to do in this society to survive.
I sure hope Tyra reads these blogs. She is a very very mean person. I am watching right now and getting madder by the second. Who does she think she is.

Tyra, I'm so mad at you and your audience for judging these women for doing what they do! You sold sex Tyra! Who buys sport illustrated 95% men. Your have dressed or barely dress in a good bit of your modeling shoots and half the women on your show probably do a lot worst things then what these ladies do. She'll be a mom no matter what. Did they forgot the way the economy is?! It would be difficult for an older lady to get a job. Look at the college graduates coming out they can barely get a job. And of course the obvious answer work at McDonald and two other jobs...then the arguement will be mom's never home. Stop being a HYPOCRITE!

i am sick and tired of women getting crap for what they do with their own lives and bodies. this dominatrix should not have to defend what she does, and i would have expected more from tyra in support of this. the fact that she has children doesn't matter if, like most of us, leave our work at work, period. the daughter on the panel is 21 years old and needs to get a grip. the only reason these kids are so hurt and embarrassed, is because society looks down on anything that empowers women. money empowers women. i've been a domme for years and what she says is true, it does build your self esteem because you begin to get used to being treated with respect (even faux, paid for respect), and soon you tend to tolerate nothing less from others in your life. the old 'fake it till you make it' applies here. does it have some psychological origins? well of course it does, but that's her private business to explore that or not. i'm proud of my profession, i help people. i let no one judge me, it has been only a positive experience for me. stop all this woman on woman judgement.
