Dear Tyra, As an aspiring gender rights advocate, I was appalled at the tone you, your so-called "expert" and members of your audience took in addressing the dominatrix guest you had on your show. Attacking a woman who very clearly has found empowerment through this particular type of sex work is to the huge detriment of America's community of sex workers; to effectively address issues of non-consensual traffiking and sex work, the safer and more consensual alternative must be promoted rather than torn down by the self-righteous and highly publicized. I beg you, take a closer look at the causes you champion or choose to decry.
Sex is a part of everyone's life and I don't get the point of being mad at people that are smart enough to charge for it. I see no problem with mothers working in the industry as long as they're being responsible parents when they're not working. As for the situation with the Domme, you can't possibly judge what she does because you have no idea what it's like to desire that kind of domination. It's a great comfort and release for someone who is always in control and always holding everything together to give up control to someone else in a safe, consensual and sane environment. Don't judge without learning about it or trying it.

I watched the end of the show and I thought that it was EXTREMELY WRONG the way that Tyra was critical of the mothers. These people don't go on the show expecting Tyra to be so obnoxious; they didn't come on the show to be judged by someone who acted as if she was so much better than them. It was very unprofessional the way Tyra acted towards those poor ladies; women who are doing what they can to take care of their families.VERY UNCOOL TYRA!!!!!
Tyra Banks is my role model! She is not a mean or judgemental person. She has strong opinions, and I admire that tremendously. By the way, being a swimsuit model and being a dominatrix are TWO different things. Yes, I know mothers, just like my own, want their kids to have the best material things and a good life. But do expensive, material things necessarily create a better life? I know that if my mom was in the sex industry, I would be ashamed and embarrassed. I'm glad that Tyra is a great example for young women and I totally agree with her on this.
I really didnt enjoy the show today because it was one sisded. everyon picked on the mother but not once did anyone put themslves in her shoes as a father of 7 I did jobs at night that most people wouldnt even dare think about. No I am not talking about selling drugs bUT i DID WHAT i HAD TO DO FOR MY KIDS AND i WOULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN. Most of ur audience on the show was very judgemental and that was wrong. Until you walk in her shoes dont judge unless u want to be judge and then u better have lived a perfect life
I really enjoy the show and the topics that are brought up. I think that they are important. One thing that I always thought was missing from the show was an expert opinion. Finally today, Tryra had an expert. Instead of welcoming her, Tyra made her own judgment (about the guests) and then asked the expert to agree with her because she had the credibility or "degree to back her up." As someone who has worked hard and overcome many obstacles in order earn just a bachelor's degree I take great offense to that attitude, especially when it is directed towards someone who has specialized to the degree of earning a doctorate in her area. The show would benefit from having outside expert opinions who can make real concrete connections especially between the psyche and our outward actions. There was a show some time back dealing with teen popular girls and the non-popular girls there in NYC. I think that the show probably made their lives worse because nothing was resolved. Tyra can't talk to them any differently than anyone else can. What was missing was a psychologist to put the dialogue into clear perspective. I hope to see more respect for experts so that real progress can be made with the show.
I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY THAT STRIPPING IS NOT SOMETHING I WOULD DO OR DOMINATING SOMEONE. BUT I AM A SINGLE MOM AND IT IS EXTREMLY HARD TO TAKE CARE OF THEM. I HAVE TWO KIDS AND I GO TO COLLEGE FULL-TIME, I ALSO WORK TWO PART-TIME JOBS. TYRA HAS THE NERVE TO BE SO JUGEMENTAL, SHE DOES NOT HAVE KIDS AND HAS NOT EXPERIENCED BEING A SINGLE MOM. IF THESE MOM FEEL THIS IS A WAY FOR THEM TO TAKE OF THEIR CHILDREN THEN LET THEM BE. BETWEEN TAKING CARE OF MY KIDS AND GOING TO WORK AND SCHOOL I END UP BEING SO TIRED AND STILL NEEDING MONEY TO TAKE CARE OF THEM. I FEEL TYRA WAS BEING MEAN, JUDGEMENTAL, AND WAS NOT UNDERSTANDING AT ALL BECAUSE SHE HAS NOT EXPERIENCED NOTHING COMPARE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO TAKE OF YOUR CHILDREN PROPERLY.
I am personally appalled. Tyra u were a super model. I don't know if u realize this but ur picture is used for sexual purposes. The two women that u just layed judgement on or good loving mothers. They spend time with their children and give the what is nessasary for them to survive. If Tamara was to quit her job an go back to school while working a job that barly paid her bills u would say she negleted her children. U really need to get over yourself an u owe these women an apology.
Tyra, why would you want to embarrass your guests? You and your professional were incredibly judgmental & harsh towards your first guest, Tamra. I understand you may disagree with her lifestyle, however you handled it as if you were a judge between right & wrong. Give the woman some slack for providing for her kids! Just because you made your money before you were a mom, as a swimsuit model nonetheless, doesn't mean you're any better than the dominatrix who I came to think of as a victim.

i beleive stripping is a terrible job! especially for a mother. she is supposed to be a role model.if she believes its appropriate she might as well say to her daughter/s, i dont care if you become a stripper. this would confuse the daughter/s because children have been always told that stripping isnt the answer. i believe if there is no other way to pay bills, than the right way is to ask your parents for the money. if my mother was out stripping and i asked her for help,she'd probably say no because she was going to be too buisyat her night job. i ask myself, how could work be more important than helping my children? on another note, there are ALWAYS different options. a ton of other jobs can support a family.all you have to do is take a deep breath, erassure yourself you can get through it, and look for a new job.

I was totally shocked by Tyra's complete and total judgmental attitude towards her one guest Tamara. Not only did she completely insult her guest, but also acted as though she has never used her body to earn a paycheck. Tamara has NOTHING to be ashamed about. She did and does what she needs to in order to take care of her family. I love the Tyra show and watch it on a daily basis, but after her narrow-minded and somewhat ignorant response to her guest Tamara I do not want to watch her show anymore. Tamara is not stripping, prostituting or selling her body. In fact. she is providing a service to those who need a HEALTHY outlet in a safe environment to express their need to no longer be in control, but rather to be the one controlled. Tyra was beyond judgmental and rude to Tamara without one bit of sympathy or willingness to learn about her lifestyle. I am appalled. I thought Tyra was supposed to be understanding, but she proved today that she is nothing more than ignorant to this sort of lifestyle. Also, the audience was rude and judgmental. None of those audience members are in any position to pass judgment on another woman, yet they seemed to stick their nose up at Tamara. I am shocked and disappointed in Tyra and her audience. Sorry to say, but Tyra just lost a viewer.
Wow. Can someone tell Tyra that "Doin' you" means staying true to yourself regardless of what others say. Just because her child is uncomfortable with it DOES NOT make it wrong for the mom. She LIKES it and it makes her great money so that she can easily feed her kids. What was that computer question Tyra??? The best kids I know had mom's around to talk to when they needed them. MY mom worked 50 hours a week, hated her job and came home tired leaving her no time for me! But she did it so we could eat. Maybe if she was happier and made more money we would have spent more time together. Tamara's kid seems beautiful and well raised!
