NEXT: You Tell Us: What if Your Mom had a VERY Hot Job?

It's just a job. I think it's important to have clear communication with your children. People think that women who do those types of jobs have no self respect and granted any woman in any job may have no self respect. There are women who just go from one partner to the next and yet look down on those you do it as a profession. I think that it only effects the children negatively if the parent acts ashamed and does not want to discuss the situation with their child(ren). Being a stripper does not make someone a bad parent. You can be in any profession and be a bad parent. I know people say, "Well by having that type of job, you're saying that it's ok to be a stripper." If you don't believe it is, at least teach them not to look down on those who do choose that profession. Feeling and talking down about those women is still a form of prejudice. Kids will only bully and taunt other kids for what their parents do if they hear adults speak negatively about them. It doesn't have to be the parents it can be any influential adult and I think that as parents it's your responsibility to know what people are feeding your kids. I'm not talking about smothering them, because you can't monitor your children 24/7 but like I said communication is key and by talking to them you can help counter act any negative influences. Of course you can teach your children what you want but take some responsibility. One last thing, there are teens who dress and act provocatively and their parents aren't anywhere near liberal. I don't believe a parents job has anything to do with who their children are.

just want to say that it isnt right once you have kids because it affects them in many diffrent ways like for example people will pick on them and stuff btw there's other jobs its perhaps alright to be a stripper but not when you have kids

It's a legal profession so if you have a problem with it get over it! People act so puritanical and judgmental. Why shouldn't a mother be able to have a legal job? Oh because it's sexual and moms aren't suppose to be sexual and real people? So only childless women should be strippers? Fact is Tyra judges all strippers, and this is just another opportunity for her go in her anti stripper rant. She has no idea what real life is like for some people. She has been a model for more than half her life. She never had to have a real job or ever struggle. She's just a typical ignorant person who thinks they know it all. Open your eyes Tyra! Learn to walk in someone eles shoes before you make assumptions and judgments. Must be easy to be so perfect while living in your glass house. I have heard all kinds of bad things like how you treat your employees like dirt. Get over yourself!

I did not see this episode with Tyra consulting the stripper moms, but from what I have been reading in these comments I have a pretty good idea of what went on. NOBODY can judge ANYBODY for what they do. Everybody has a good reason for the choices that they make. I am also a single mother of a 2 year old and I do not get any help whatsoever from the father, who skipped out and moved to California. I have been living with my parents for a while now and they cant afford to keep my daughter and I in their house being as how they have very little money now. I am not just a mom who sits around and doesn't look for another job, i apply to at least 10 jobs a day, but hear nothing back. The way the economy is now it is harder than hell to find a job good enough to take care of you and your child. This is why I too am considering becoming a stripper. Its not something that i would normally do, and I know i will not be completely comfortable with it, but you know what? It'll help my parents out by getting me and my child out of their house, and ill have some money for clothes, a car, food, housing, paying off my college loan so i can continue going to college and I can be independent again. So if being a stripper is what its gonna take to get one foot out the door, then so be it. I would give my soul for my daughter!

Hi Tyra, My Name is Vania and i have four children. In my opinion i don't think it's approiate nor fair for the children to have to go though that growing up. i myself have three girls and one son and i am 24 years old. i struggle each day to do the right things for my children. i currently do volunteer work for the Madame Walker theatre in Indianapolis, IN. I like it because it's something i enjoy. So me as a mother could not see myself doing that type of thing. I believe in god and he is all i need to be happy and help take care of my children. thank you

A dominatrix doesn't have sex with clients, they beat them and other stuff. Haha which can be good for a stress reliever. But I'm sure like dancing, some people do more than that for more money. I do find it sad in America that after countless searches and interviews for jobs, even ones way down on the money chain, all the last resort jobs for women is stripping, porn, sex etc. Men can do a couple of crappy construction or mill work per say. I'm sure there are men that used stripping as a last resort as well, but it's an outrage at how we are supposed to be this great country that was started to help people have better lives and freedom when in reality it did not turn out that way. I do appreciate that there is a lot of good that came from it, and good people are always working on making it a better place, but no one ever should have to subject to things that make you feel so degrading. No one should have to stoop to that level to take care of family's, health, food, living etc. Yes there are women who do it for fun and do a little "extra" for cash, or are really conceded individuals, but not all women/men are that way. A lot of people do it and keep their dignity and respect and keep it private. And those people should not be judged. Heck, the economy is so bad you can't even get a job at a fast food restaurant. Not that that really pays the bills for adults trying to make it on their own, but it's sad. Maybe strip clubs/topless bar/go-go places should let the women wear certain costumes with some sort of mask to help hide

If you want to be a stripper, then be a stripper! You shouldn't have to struggle for money. If you can't afford college or can't pay your bills, then dance!Easy money! You're beautiful for a reason.Dont let your talent go to waste. You don't have to get carried away with it though.Stay sexy but cilvilized.Don't make it a career.Just make it a way to get back on track.

I am very disappointed with Tyra. I found her to be amazingly judgmental, manipulative and hypocritical when dealing with the African American soccer mom who is a dominatrix by night. Because it was a behavior she disagrees with, she used her position as hostess to tear away at the confident mom. While I personally would never want to be a dominatrix, I still was able to understand the person's point of view. I love to watch both of Tyra's shows, the Tyra Banks Show and America's Next Top Model, but this is the first time she seemed anything but objective and very unfair and took advantage of her guest.

Women don't stop being human beings the day they have children. I'm really disappointed by the message the stripper-mom show and poll sends to young women. Tyra is usually trying empowering women, but this show basically suggests that once we become mothers, we are no longer individuals. So now the message is: you get to be a real, empowered person before you have kids, but the second you have kids your happiness no longer matters. Telling women that they have to behave a certain way once they have kids -- this basically makes us baby machines with no intrinsic worth after motherhood. I like to think that my happiness and having children do not have to be mutually exclusive life options. Would you rather have a stripper mom or another child living in the foster care system? Or should we suggest that strippers (who become pregnant and want to keep the baby) have abortions? Or maybe we should all marry rich jerks so we don't have to do anything but raise our kids?

okay,so l have been reading the comments..and l thought l would put mine to.;it all boils down no one has the right to judge anybody, unless you are you are working for the almighty, but l still doubt he would let you do the judging.we are not all dealt the same hand..so you have to work with what you got.If she the stripper or Dom..mama feel thats the best or one of the few options she has...let her do it.She has her reasons,so unless you know them..and you are willing to help shutup.!!!at least she is being honest with herself...rather than those who act better than others judging their lives and choices...let them be.l mean probably those judging them are more SCANDALOUS than the stripper and Dom.so basically it alls comes down to choices...and with every choice there is repercussion.soshe will deal with what comes not you.do you and let her do her...There are bigger problems out there than having to deal with hypocrites.Even if l dnt support someones decision l am not going to demean them

i was a striper for 3 days and i had a child i realy didnt feel sexy until i worked there its not like your haveing sex with the people you dance for when i worked there i met all of the people and they are some of the most interesting people i have ever met. one of them had 4 kids. now that i have had my second baby and have not been able to lose all of the weight like i did with the first kid i would never strip but i belive that if you have the body and you can move and you want to then do it it is your life and it is harder to be a stripper then people think.

i did it. it got me up and out of a very hard spot. i don't do it any more but if i have to i will. when it cames to putting food on the table and clothes are there backs i will do anything because i'm their mother.

I'm 14 and I loved this show. I don't see a problem with being dominatrix but there is a problem with being a stripper. I agree with Tamara, as long as your not hurting anyone, your kids don't find out, you can't get another job, the money goes straight to your kids, and no sex is involved why can't you become a dominatrix. I believe with stripping your in a lower class in the sex industry than a dom because you revealing your body to strangers who don't know you and you don't know them for money. Tyra was a little judgmental towards Tamara but I understand why. Tyra grew up in Inglewood, California with high morals from her mama and one of those morals to follow was probably not to work in the sex industry because its slutty and degrading to women. I COMPLETELY AGREE. LOVE YOU TYRA ! ! !

Hi everyone, Trya's show was about how these jobs affected the children and you compare tyra's job and she does not even have kids. It is hard as a sinlge parent that is why we should help out our neighbors and give or get them resources babysit so they do not have to pay a sitter or just take the time to get to know them so they can be around a positvie people not judge them. My other opinion is to many year in this industry can be bad for you you don't even think the same and it could be damaging for you if you get in a relationship in the future.
