crisis_survey.jpgThis summer, when the Tyra Show posted a survey on sex, drugs and violence, more than 10,000 teen girls and young women were shockingly honest about what is really happening in their lives. And what they said will blow you away. What did the Young Women in Crisis survey results show?

More girls than ever are kissing other girls, becoming sexually active and actually trying to become teen mothers! What's the result of all that risky business? The survey found that the average girl loses her virginity at 15 -- and more than half of the teens having sex are doing so without protection! Many of them are even having sex at school. All that activity might explain why one in three girls said they were afraid they have an STD!

That's not all: The young women told us that they're becoming more violent too. In fact, about half of the girls in the survey said they had hit someone!

I cant really say that it hurt me to c gurls at the aga of 12 an 13 r gettin themselves involve in things that that because we have children yunger that that doing worse.

hey tyra, i love your show very much and most of your stories i can deffinitely relate to and u help me so much even though u dont know me and u are my role model and i like how u help the girls on top model and how u help them cope with there problems and u help them open up one day i"ll like to be like u not a model but a great person inside an out.

Hey Tyra!Im 15 and was shocked when i saw the sexting episode.For the record not all 15 year olds do that.something else that shocked me was that they talked about the situation as if it was nothing.hopefully they will realize how harmful and dangerous it could it could be to their self esteem and their reputation. P.S. I love you and your show :)

Dear Tyra, Ive always love your showz. I love them because there all positive and us a different side to what we are usually exposed to. I am 17; I live with my single mom and my brother and Im trying to do the right thing. I am a virgin. Never tried any kind of sex. I figured if I could wait this long its not going to kill me to wait a couple more years. Never done drugs. It just didnt make sense that the goverment would make it illegal if it wasnt bad for you. Im classed rank Number 4 in my class and Im going to be studying law. The reason that Im saying all of this is not to blow my own horn; its to let you know that your shows are impacting teen girls like my in a positive way. Keep being you and doing what you do:)

hi tyra, im 18 years old. i watched the episode on sexting and i don't think it's right for 13 14 or even 15yr olds to be sending naked pictures. i did it before and i regret don't it so much. i almost lost my boyfriend because of it. almost everyone saw them and my boyfriend wasn't my boyfriend at the time but we ended up getting back together then he found out i did that. it was bad i reget it so much. i think younger girls need to start respecting theirselves. im one of those girls who did what the boy asks because if she didnt he wouldnt like her anymore. but i was pretty stupid i found someone who loves me so much. if we dont work out i know now i can say no because somebody will love me for who i am and respect my wishes. i always watch your shows and i can relate to some. i hope someday i will be part of your audience. =) thanx.

Hello tyra. I am 12 years old, close to 13, and I watch your show quite often. I saw the teen 'sexting' episode and was taken aback at how graphic these people could be. Personally, I believe that whether or not you wish to kep your virginity until you're married is your personal choice. but these actions taking place are not too out of the ordinary for me. In my class(most are 12 or 13), I doubt they're having sex, but they often play sexually suggestive games, though I know they"re just joking about it. they do this either in public or go behind the lockers. I, however, don't engage in such activity. I think you should do more shows on ten topics, because these issues need to be addressed.

Hey Tyra! I watched the show today about "sexting" and I think its crazy. I'm 14 and I can't believe girls my age are doing things like this. I've never sent pictures like that of myself to any guys. I'm a virgin and I don't think that girls my age should be having sex. I know of atleast 3 girls in my school that are pregnant. I think that most girls do it to keep their boyfriends or it makes them think that their boyfriends love them, well they don't. We're too young. I know of some girls that had sex for the first time when they were in 6th grade. Its such a big deal to have sex and I don't think that people realize it. And oral sex just grosses me out! Sometimes I feel like its weird that I haven't had sex or oral sex because of how many people I know that have done it. Guys have asked me to send pictures but I just reply by saying "I'm too good for that." I love your show Tyra and I try to watch it every day :) I think that you're a great role model for teens everywhere. Thanks! :) -Jessica

Here in Canada around where I live, a lot of girls are losing their virginities at 13-14. It's kind of weird to hear that someone loses it over those ages. The girls that I know that lose their virginities so early are doing well and shouldn't be criticized. Sex is a much better thing than people make it out to be, there are SO many emotional and physical benefits that you would see the negatives in a small way if they didn't happen so often. Teen pregnancy, isn't my choice to make for you, but I advise highly against it. That is my unbiased opinion. I believe so because teen girls aren't exactly emotionally, physically, and mentally prepared for it even when they think they are, or will learn. There's so much you need to learn about raising babies and stuff like that. Not to mention the dirt-bag guys that you think will help you but always leave you stuck with the baby, they disgust me. A child needs a father figure naturally, no matter what you say or what your opinion is on that, they are programmed at birth to need a father figure for certain things. Despite me saying all this, you all have your own choices, the difference is how well you understand the consequences, how well you consider the other people around you, how much money you make, and how strong your mind is.

Humans are stupid period. Parents do not trust themselves or their kids. They try to be overprotective and protect kids from harm but instead of letting the kids experience things they try to ban it. Big mistake. When the teen turns 18 they will find that thing and that is when the parent will really be sorry. You can't protect someone forever, or change their fate.

Hey Tyra.. My name is Ana and i've been watching your show for a very long time now. I'm 15 years old.. turning 16 at the end of the year. And i've heard a lot of stories on your show that I can personally relate to. Your show helps me in so many ways and I think you are truely a fantastic role model for any teenager who watches you and your show. I am currently in grade 11.. I smoke, drink, and do drugs. I am definitely a "party" girl and the choices that i've made in the past couple years have really taken a tole on my relationship with my mother, family, job, education and who my friends are. I have had sex before.. more than once. I have a problem with hooking up at parties and I have been in situations that most girls my age would never imagine. I have done and seen things that would shock you. On the contrary, I have good grades and I know exactly what I want to do with my life once I am out of highschool but I don't have the support from my family at all.. Anyways, I love your show and I really, REALLY would like to be a part of your audience. I could never afford that though.. but it'll happen, don't worry!! Haha thanks for being an inspriation. :)

Hey Tyra! i just want to say that you are an AMAZING person! i love how you help women with all their problems and give them power to be whoever they want to be! Anyways i was reading some commens and i totally agree with Coco! im also 18 years old and im still a virgin. Ive had many boyfriends who are considered the "player" type and i was pressured alot throughout highschool but i never gave in. I also have a boyfriend of 10 months and he understands why. i believe you should wait until you found your true love and the person you want to spend the rest of your life with becaus you can't take it back once you've done it. I know alot of these teenage girls have sex just to fit in but they should learn not to live up to anyones standars other than their own. Ive learned alot throughout highschool. Like guys really do have more respect for you when you keep it too yourslef, it may be bad but they like the chase. They dont really want an "easy" girl or they might but they only want them for one reason. And being a virgin does not mean that you are a nerd or a loser or have no friends, ill have you know that everyone in my school knows about my virginity and i have so many friends i was on homecoming court, i won Prom Queen and best personality at my school. Just goes to show that being yourself can get your far in life.

Hi Tyra,im 17 years old and i think you should do another show on how teens feel about them seld as far as beauty and peer pressure. and i think u shoud do a show on gay teens [im not gay] but i do have friends that are gay both girl and boy i think gay teens have the hardest time getting through life escpecially being in high school. when im walkin down the hall ways u hear people talkin about somebody that they just found out that the person has become gay. i dont feel like being gay is wrong or right because u can control your feelings and if u just so happy to catch feelins for your same sex then thats u. i dnt think ppl should be judged on who they love jus as longs as they are happy is wat matters to me
