Hi Tyra, I would like to leave a message about the show with Kathy Griffins. I am not a fan of hers to begin with because I think she is very rude. I don't know if this is her true personality or just her persona/character as a comedian. But my reason for posting this message is because I was very irritated with her usage of the word "hood" on several occasions yesterday as it relates to the black or African-Americans that she spoke of. At one point in the interview, she referred to T.I. as being hood and having a bunch of baby's mommas. And on another occasion she referred to the young ladies on the Oprah Show (the interview that you did after the Chris Brown and Rihanna incident) as being "hood." I am not sure how you feel but I feel that the usage of this word in reference to black people is just as bad and negative as calling us the 'N' word. How often do you hear black celebs or anyone other race refer to whites (in interviews) from low income neighborhoods as being from the trailer park. You don't! The usage of the phrase "black people from the hood" sends negative connotations and views of African-Americans just like the 'N' word. I think that it is really sad that people all around the world think that it is cool to use negative language to express the physical appearance or state of being of the people in our communities. True enough, we do bear some of the responsibility ourselves as some of us glorify it in the music that they sing. But again, I feel that this word should not be glorified by anyone. At some point we have to rise up above the labels that
