Don't be a hater on FB!

If you're like us over here at "Team Tyra" we are constantly updating our Facebook profiles and "friending" old faces. Facebook is awesome, but there can always be a little too much of a good thing. We are broadcasting every detail about our lives 24/7 online now and it seems like there is no such thing as privacy.

Here are a few etiquette rules we think everyone should follow when using Facebook.

  • Only tag a photo of a friend with their permission.
  • Only make friend requests of people you actually know -- not complete strangers
  • Relationship status changes must be mutual
  • Do not write inappropriate stuff on your friend's walls
  • Don't over "poke"
  • Do not leave your Facebook page up in communal places

I cannot believe that with all the important issues going on in America today and around the World we are actually talking about a crappy page like Facebook! Why don't we talk about issues that really matter like, the Government putting Fluoride in Bottled Water and Tap water. Or the meaning of 11:11 based only on the people it appears to on various times. Or Human Trafficking, or The Mayan Calendar but please don't waste time by not making people actually think people have already given up on thinking making them think will only benefit them.

Actually Tyra poking is like a sort of game for me and my friends and most people on facebook! some people call it a POKE WAR betweEn friends! THINK OF IT LIKE LITTLE CHILDREN WHO PLAY AND THEY PLAY HIT FOR HIT THE GOAL IS TO KEEP ON GOING AND HOW FAST YOU CAN POKE BACK YOUR FRIEND! SILLY BUT ITS A POKE WAR BABY!!!!!!!!!!!

Most people have "poke wars" with their friends, but the real purpose is so you can view the profile of someone who you are NOT friends with, I'm pretty sure if you poke them back, you can see their profile for a week.

Although poking started as something different its just a basic gesture that gives you the convience of not sending a message or a wall post.

you asked what a poke is well i know that facebook made that feature with no meaning they made it so people can have there own meaning for it such as flirting, annoying, or craving attention but im sure there are other meanings people have had for poking. oh and btw i love love loveee your show i watch it everyday you always have something interesting on your show and i cant wait for tomorrows show it looks good.

The reason people who dont know you poke you is because your profile is block and when they poke you they would be able to see you profile for about a week without adding you and maybe they want to poke you as a game :)

Tyra, The MAIN thing about a poke is that it gives a chance for someone who is NOT your friend to VIEW YOUR PROFILE or a semi-profile. So, that before they totally commit to being your friend, they can get your attention and get to know you. Hence, the poke.

tyra a poke is when you want to get someones attention, lol thats, loved the show today, xoxo

I think a poke is a way for people to get someones attention without actually having to talk to them or say something to them. The website tells you "you've been poked by so and so"... and the person never has to actually say something to you. Then if you respond or poke them back is almost like telling them in a weird way "hey i noticed you, you can talk to me or contact me if you want!" I personally HATE pokes!... i never respond to them. If people want to get your attention or just say "hey" then do it! poking is dumb.

Hi Tyra I just wanted to tell you what a poke is! I have been "poking" 2 friends of mine for about 2 years! Sometimes twice a day. I think it's just a way of saying "hey, whats up, I'm thinking about you". And even if you are just replying to a poke by poking back, it still takes a few seconds to do-- so you know that person is thinking of you too, if they poke you back! I poked a crush of mine about 2 months ago when we first hooked up, and he never poked me back. I take it personally, I'm not gonna lie! By not poking back, it tells me he's not interested and doesn't care to take the 2seconds everyday to think about me!

i like you show

to me, poking is like walking around a familiar place and smiling at people. I'd smile as a nice gesture to anyone I'd want to acknowledge but not stop and talk to. it's just a "hey, I'm thinking about you" kind of thing. most of the people I poke are people I know and like a lot but just don't have much in common with anymore and don't ever see. you know how sometimes you'll want to check up on an old friend and you'll say "hey, how are you?" and they say "good, you?" If I know that's what they're going to respond, I'll just poke them. If they're not going to open up to me, then I just want them to know I'm thinking about them and I won't bother with awkward words!
