Don't be a hater on FB!

If you're like us over here at "Team Tyra" we are constantly updating our Facebook profiles and "friending" old faces. Facebook is awesome, but there can always be a little too much of a good thing. We are broadcasting every detail about our lives 24/7 online now and it seems like there is no such thing as privacy.

Here are a few etiquette rules we think everyone should follow when using Facebook.

  • Only tag a photo of a friend with their permission.
  • Only make friend requests of people you actually know -- not complete strangers
  • Relationship status changes must be mutual
  • Do not write inappropriate stuff on your friend's walls
  • Don't over "poke"
  • Do not leave your Facebook page up in communal places

so a POKE is kindda like a "hey.. whats up"... you know like when guys walk by each other and give each other a little nod.. haha its like that kindda thing. I am a facebook vet, Ive had it since 2005 i believe.... when it was only for college students... it wasnt until a year ago that they opened it up to everyone... it used to be called TheFacebook.. Ive seen facebook evolve quite a bit... before there wasn't even a minifeed... you couldn't even tag pictures of people, anyhow, i hope that this is helpful in understanding what a poke is... in fact did you know you can get banned from poking!!! haha... I heard that you could get banned, so i decided to put it to the test. I went on a poking rampage and YEP!! i got banned from poking for 24hours, lol i guess its the hint to quit bothering people =)

I just wanted to call Tyra's attention to a video posted on facebook about 2 girls who almost beat themselves to death over a guy/boy. I'm sure they are teens...if there are not they will be in their early 20's. Most people thought it was funny.I think it's sickening and nauseating.I know how concerned and kin you are on teens enlightenment and empowerment. I think should address these on your show as well. I think you can help these teens understand that a man/boy who cheat's on you and watches you get beating by the other girl as if it an entertainment fight show he's not worth it. This is another way teens display their insecurity. Pls! help.

Ok, basically what a "poke" is on facebook is when, u know when a friend comes up 2 u and pokes u on the shoulder when ur not looking their way &that gets ur attention. Well its like that, only its an online person wanting 2 get ur attention with a "poke" Hope this helps ^_^ Take care Tyra!

A poke is NOT a sexual thing in most cases, it's actually just something used to try and get someone's attention without having to go to the trouble of thinking of something to write as a comment. Though yes, it can be USED in a sexual advance.

a poke is a flirty thing, they want to be acknowledged, if its constant poking from someone, its more of a "lets have sex now" "poke" +it depends how old you are and if you get inuendos and such. :)

i have a friend from israel and she doesn't know how to translate things very well to english so she is always like " i love you so much and i want to see you and give you a great hug" and a lot worse and everyone had already seen the message before i could delete it now im scared to go to school cause people think some baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad things

heyy tyra, its cool that u have a facebook....but why does ur team have to update it? why cant u actuali take control of it it would be amazing if u could friend ur fans and maybe put like photos of u being crazii i kno ur busy and i look u to you soo muchh words cant explain it...but it would be nice if u could think about the regular ppl of everyday life and not only the ppl on ur shows who are famous or have disabilitiesand plz dont take this the wrong way bc i think everything u do is amazing

Hi tyra. I ignore pokes and invites cuz its too much nonsense and it gets on my nerves. I have when women wanna be my friend to see what me and a guy they deal with are writing.
