surving_a_breakup.jpg

Your heart hurts, but it'll heal.

A break-up is always rough and even though it feels like things won't ever be better -- we can promise you they will. If you're feeling like you still need a little help staying positive. Here's a few ways to survive the breakup and get your groove back.

Let It Out
Fight all your urges to put up a strong front. If you bottle up all your hurt, anger and tears they will come back to haunt you later. Let yourself feel all the things that you're feeling, scream, cry and then get past it. Being in touch with how you honestly feel gives you ownership over your feelings.

Let It Go
Maybe there is a chance for you guys in the future. For now -- that's irrelevant. Even if it is meant to be and you guys come back together, a new relationship should start basically from scratch -- picking up where you left off will only lead to the same problems that caused the first break-up. You can't find the closure you need to start fresh if you don't let the first relationship go and of course -- there's always the possibility that you won't get back together.

Let Live
The most important thing to do is not go to "Bitter Town." A sturdy support system is the best thing to help you get out of this alive, so to risk offending your friends is risking losing your comfort zone. We know it's hard to see your happily taken best friend, but if she's doing her fair share of planning girl's nights and being supportive -- be supportive back.
