It's time to drop...the spending habits that is.
They know you by name at your local Macy's and the mall is your home away from home, it might be time to curb the spending just a wee bit. We're not saying you can't ever indulge in a little retail therapy, but the constant shopping is a way to leave your budget in the dust as a long forgotten memory. Here's a few ways to cure your shopping addiction.
Cash or Carry
Here's a trick that has always worked for us. Instead of immediately buying everything that catches your eye and making a mad-dash for the door, select an item and then carry it around the store for awhile. Unless you go into the store for something you absolutely need, always put thought into things you might just want. Carry the item for a bit and consider all the possibilities for its use. If you can't come up with many -- ditch that sucker. You don't need it.
Mail Call
We know how relaxing it is to sit and thumb through the kerjillions of catalogs you get in the mail, imagining all the glorious goods that could make their way off of the page and into your home. But most of us don't even think about these things unless they're right in front of us. Simple solution -- call up the companies and have yourself removed from the mailing lists. Or even easier, visit catalogchoice.org and get yourself away from the catalyst catalogs.
Game of Cards
You don't need the Old Navy card, the Victoria's Secret card, the Macy's card...No more! When you head to the mall to battle the commerce, only go armed with one little plastic weapon.
