Do prom night right.
It's not graduation or finally being done with four years of hard work, we all know prom night is the night every hopeful freshman dreams about. But too often a super special night turns into a tragedy. Grab the shoes and the fabulous dress. Here are a few ways to keep safe on prom night.
For the Prom-ees:
Prom is an unforgettable night and of course you're going to get your boogie on and have a good time. No matter how responsible you are, there are always those around you who might not be as mature. In case of emergency, make sure a trusted older source is near a phone should an emergency happen. A sympathetic older sibling is obviously the first choice, but don't be afraid to ask a parent. They will probably just be impressed by your adulthood.
For the Parents:
We know it might be tempting to naysay your child into submission. But that's just the problem -- they're NOT necessarily children any more. If you offer up compromises instead of enforcing a strict midnight curfew, your little prom king or queen will be more open with you about their plans and will call you in an emergency.
For the Teachers:
Inevitably, there's always one bad apple in the bunch. But if a student shows up to the big party and clearly has been drinking, don't just turn the party pooper away. Ensure that the student gets home safely and isn't driving home -- drunk driving accidents account for many accidents on prom nights.
