A few common concerns solved.
That evil little witch that comes once a month -- will her tortures never cease?! From pregnancy scares to killer cramps, we know all the drama that comes along with "that time" of the month. But sometimes the questions are a little harder to answer than "will these cramps ever end?!" Here's a few answers to some of your more perplexing problems.
Pain, Pain Go Away
Ordinarily, normal pains will come around the start of your period and it isn't rare to be a little under the weather that day. But if pain persists to the point where you physically cannot move, it would be a good idea to see a doctor. One way they might help you out is by putting you on a low-dose of birth control to help balance out your cycle.
Skinny Minny
Your body size does actually play a role in how often you get your period. A certain level of body fat is necessary to keep your system working properly. When women have disordered eating, they'll notice that their periods slow down or stop coming at all. Not only are eating disorders bad for your body, they could prevent you from being able to ever have kids. If you miss a few periods in a row, it's time to see a doctor. Period.
Stinky Sitch
For most women, the main concern with their periods is smell. Normally, your period should be odorless or maybe a little like blood. If it smells, um, fishy, that could potentially be a sign of infection. So go see your OB.
