An easy way to eat better is to eat slower.

On a crazy day, shoveling down your food will certainly get the job done faster -- but it won't get it done better. Wolfing each meal leads to poor digestion and is actually a big factor in obesity, because your body is not properly processing your food. Here's a few hints to slow your chow down.

Chewed to Pieces
We don't know about you, but for most of us our moms' meal-time theme song went a little like this: "CHEW!" There was a reason well meaning woman barked that at you -- it's true, you really need to chew. Chew thoroughly and don't take another bite until you've swallowed.

Chopped
For a quick way to slow down -- simply put down the knife and fork. Putting down the utensils -- or sandwich/burger -- in between bites will force you to stop shoveling. Or, get some Asian inspiration and try eating everything with chopsticks.

Switch Up
Notice how much faster you scarf down a slice of pizza then when you're trying a food for the first time. If you're used to eating something a lot, it's more likely you'll do so mindlessly. Try new things or at least switch up your basics and slow it down.

Hey tyra!, thanks for the tips! I tend to eat fast, but then when i remember to eat slower and calm down i will but then soon ill begin to eat fast again. What would you recommend? Also do you think that going to bed full, or eating before going to bed bad?

Thx for the hints Tyra, I've lost weight by Concentrating on my food more and chewing slower

Hey Tyra! Thanks for the "what's up everywhere" show, yesterday. My eyes were glued to the television as so many questions that I secretly had were answered. I think that for me and alot of other young women, the show inspired a real change of thinking...That while it's important to look great on the outside, it's even more important to get informed and be aware of what's happening on the inside. After all we only have one body, and how we treat it today could, health-wise save alot of grief and give us alot more freedom in our senior years. Thanks again Tyra xoxo
