Word on the Street: Why Teen Girls Are Becoming More Violent

i am a young teenage girl and in my eyes and my own point of view from experience is that is so much more than jus getting in a fight on the street. you take and claim your respect! im not saying is the right way to do it but evey girl is aggressive if i could have avoided fighting then i would have but those girls attack and you have no choice to fight back. there was a case with me where i tried to walk away i really did but they cornered me and i had no choice but to defend myself. i am 5'2 about 115 pounds 17 years old and have been in FIVE fights. you stand up for whats yours and dont let anyone push you around and if that comes to fighting then i guess thats what you have to do. im not a problem starter at all. all of the fights i have been in was because i was standing up for myself beacause i WILL NOT let anyone push me around and thats what it lead to.

They are so violent because the want to show they won't back out of a fight and that thay are tough not chickens. Also to be popular and cool, more when it's a fight againts 1 to more people. :)

I feel that girls are not more violent than any other girls in school now or 10 years ago. I am 45yr old and the same fighting was going on when I was in school the only difference is that the girls did not tape it and put it on the internet. Girls have always been more violent than guys when it comes to fist fights. But in this day and age parents should be happy that they aren't using knifes and are just using cameras. I am sure everyone remembers when the stories on the talk shows were about girls getting their faces slashed instead getting their faces punched. I think there is always a different solution, other than fighting to get a problem solved and I am totally against violence. But we really need to quit acting like this is a new thing because it's not. I grew up with five sisters and one brother and my sisters and I were always getting jumped on or someone was always threatening to fight us.

I think these girls need good possitive role model. The home is where everything begins in a childs life. If the guidelines are laid down and a child is made to understand what is expected of him/her at a young age those teachings will follow them throughout life.

i don't think girls are becoming more violent i think it's always been there but people are just publicizing? (don't know if i spelled right) it more so it seems like they're more violent.I say that because i remember when i was in middle school girls were fighting like everyday and that was about seven years ago,but i don't know thats just my take on the topic.
