Code blue. Dr. George O'Malley and Dr. Izzy Stevens are checking out of "Grey's Anatomy."

After months of speculation, Us Weekly reports that Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are leaving the show they helped make a hit.

The "Grey's Anatomy" co-stars were the subject of tabloid rumors since the beginning of the current T.V. season and according to the chief of staff at Seattle Grace, Dr. Richard Webber played by James Pickens Jr., Knight and Heigl are both taking off their scrubs.

Katherine reportedly wants to focus on her movie career and T.R. is ready to move on. Knight and the show's executive producer/writer, Shonda Rhimes, have been in talks about creating a believable story line to explain the abrupt exit, leaving open the possibility that Dr. O'Malley may return to Seattle Grace one day.

Tell Us: What do you think of the shake up at "Grey's?"

This was really a sad thing, even for us in Norway!! However, thank you so much for all the great show, Izzy and O'Malley!! :) xoxo Malin

why are they leaving? thats so silly they are the best characters in it they cant leave!!!! DONT GO PLEASE!

I think that celebrities let the fame and riches go to their heads, and there really isn't too many people that are willing to bring them back down to earth. Maybe they are leaving the show because they think they are bigger than that now, especially katherine. She seems to be the nose in the air type of celebrity. I think it is a lot like singing groups, they are together become famous and then they think they are better without the people who helped make them famous in the first place. So then they split up the group and only think of themselves. Well what do I know I'm just a housewife from a small town in Missouri.

why george why, don't leave us

Why is this happening? Im so selfish but ER is coming to an end and Warrick and Grissom have left CSI I can't cope!!lol

I wish they would stay, but they want to make changes in their personal careers. The show will change without them, especially Izzy. It changed for the worse when Burke left. but I continued to watch on Thursdays. Nothing they do will ever compare to the original Grey's Anatomy.

I'm gonna miss both characters, esp. Izzy. I was hoping they were somehow going to bring Denny back as a twin or something. I hope the show can go on, it's my favorite on thursday nite.

I never liked George's character much to begin with, so I don't mind him leaving. I did like Izzy a lot, so I'll miss her for sure. Katherine Heigl is a great actress - I loved her since Roswell! I think Grey's Anatomy will survive just fine without them though. They still have many strong characters - I think Christina and Callie are the best! Plus I love the new doctor that was in the military (can't remember his name on the show right now). He is a great actor.

Ithink tha i won't be the same because this show is about a hospital nad those doctors and interns who struggled with thier lifes and work.

Well there goes Grey's Anatomy. You get a great show and stars that are exceptional and they start making changes. It's a shame Issy and George were strong players. Why not, tdhey can't be satisfied with making a show last.

Have to disagree with the comment platinum..Heigl is a wonderful actress. An Emmy and two Golden Globes noms would suggest that too. She is already a leading lady...and is the 5th highest paid movie actress in the world earning $6 million a film. The show may be called Grey's Anatomy but Heigl is its only star.

I'm so happy to see that they are leaving T.R. Knight isn't all that I hope they get Dr. Burk to come back although he won't. As for Katherine Heigl, She not that good of an actress, and she is definately not a leading lady. Both actors seem to forget the show is called Grey's Anatomy not Stephens or O'malley Anatomy. They did have good story lines but like some fast rising actors they feel they are owed more.
