Bride Wars premieres today and four other matrimonial-mess movies we love.
If Anne Hathaway thought Miranda Priestly was bad- - she had no idea what was in store for her. Bride Wars is a classic "friends become frenemies" tale. With Anne playing Emma and Kate Hudson playing Liv, the two are former best friends whose dream weddings get in the way of their lifelong friendship.
Check it out in theaters tonight and for more marriage mayhem flicks, snag any of these- - just maybe skip them on date night.
27 Dresses (2008)
The beloved Katherine Heigl stars as "never say no" Jane- - who's been a bridesmaid a whopping twenty-seven times. There's nothing Jane won't do for anyone...until she's asked to plan her sister's wedding- - to the man SHE'S been in love with. Swoon-worthy James Marsden stars as a snarky newspaper columnist, Kevin, so there's plenty of eye candy as a side dish.
My Best Friend's Wedding (1997)
Before there was Liv and Emma, there was Julianne and Michael. The original tale of bride wars and wedding sabotage, Julia Roberts stars as Julianne trying to stop the wedding of her best friend Michael to a girl she finds... unfortunately charming (played by a super-young and super-cute Cameron Diaz). Watch it for the Dionne Warwick sing-along ALONE.
The Sweetest Thing (2002)
She might have played the clueless Kimmy in "My Best Friend's Wedding", but Cameron Diaz was anything BUT clueless in this 2002 girl-power comedy. One wedding, one mistaken groom and one very unfortunate bathroom encounter sets off an atomic bomb of hilarity. Co-starring Christina Applegate and the incomparable Jason Bateman, THIS one is a good date-night watch.
License to Wed (2007)
Between our crazy love of Mandy Moore AND John Krasinski, it's hard to pay attention to the plot, but this 2007 flick is definitely worth watching (maybe twice- - once to swoon over the leading lady and man and once to laugh as hilarity ensues.) Oh yeah, and Robin Williams plays a priest- - enough said.
