Do's and don't to leave a lasting impression.

You got the interview! The hard part is over, now all that's left to do is land that job. We think you're fabulous and fun, but even the best of us cramp up before an interview. Just take a deep breath and follow a few of our do's and don'ts and you'll be headed straight to the office come Monday.

Do: your research. Sometimes it might be the company you're really interested in and sometimes it's just the position -- either way, study up on what you'd be doing and where. The fastest way to look foolish in an interview is to be clueless about the position.
Don't: over-rehearse your answers. It's good to be knowledgeable about the place you're interviewing, but you don't need to rattle off the company mission statement to appear qualified. It'll just look like you've memorized the website, not that you can actually do the job.

Do: greet your interviewer by his or her title and last name (Mrs. Smith.) This is important because then it shows you've listened to all the facts about your interview. If you don't know how to pronounce the person's last name, ask the receptionist.
Don't: attempt to pronounce the person's name without checking if you're unsure. It looks much better if you cared to check rather than if you just went ahead and said whatever you thought. Also, no matter how informal the environment seems, don't call the person by their first name until instructed. If it is that casual, we're sure he or she will say, "oh just call me Jane."

Do: be positive and upbeat. It's okay to be borderline bubbly as long as you know what you're talking about. There is a curve when it comes to interviews, you're human and there's going to be a bit of nerves when it comes to these things. As long as you stay cheerful and intelligent it'll get you places.
Don't: be too aggressive. It's good to show enthusiasm, but being too intense is off-putting. Also, avoid talking negatively about your most recent employer. Of course, if asked, you can explain what is unsatisfying about that job, but don't go in to detail about your last boss who was "such a jerk." Touching controversial areas can potentially make you look like a hard to handle employee.

I want to say that I've always had a form of Attention Deficit Disorder,However if i never had parents to teach me anything because they love me then I can't say that it's ADD. I'm willing to learn if someone would invest in me. I've been blessed to graduate high school and as well I've just graduated WCCCD. I'll have my Associates in Science. My major was for a Registered Nurse. I've lost my interest for taking the test to enter the program. I would like to change my major BUT TO WHAT? THIS IS MY STRUGGLE! I'm 39 years old. I've been making my best judgments on my own. I've never had parents to help me. I've always had a KFC type of job as a $6.00 an hour cashier. Well I understand that I'm grownup now and it's not right to be making $6.00 an hour. I need help. Also my top front tooth and first three bottom teeth are gone. I think this is what's making employers hire me. Is there anything you can do? Please Help! Thank You Very Much. Love Parish. I love to sing I love to dance and I don't know what to do with it.

LEARN THE SECRETS TO EMPLOYMENT IN TODAY'S ECONONY...THE FIRST IS... Dear friend, As a Job Ready Strategist, I can provide the tools to empower the recent graduate, the unemployed, and those seeking a career change or concerned about job security in an increasingly uncertain economic environment. Tyra Banks Show empowers viewers with tools they need towards their journey of self-sufficiency. Our respective goals mesh perfectly. My program focuses on fostering a healthy mind by securing gainful employment; Tyra helps to create inward wellness. Our partnership would create a powerful mind-body connection. The current economic rollercoaster is triggering widespread emotional upheaval; as unemployment continues to rise, stress accelerates, bringing about unhealthy lifestyle choices (poor nutrition, depression. and lack of exercise, for example). Tyra Banks Show alleviates stress and depression, fostering a positive outlook and healthier lifestyle. Add to this my systematic, concise approach to employment, and you have the “TEAM UP” strategy which translates into to a healthier mind, body and spirit. I’m proposing that Tyra Banks Show dedicate a show(s) concentrating on providing its audience the essential tools needed to find and retain employment in today’s economic uncertainty by presenting my “Seven Steps to Employment Success System” career seminar. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF ALL THOSE IN THE TYRA BANKS SHOW UNIVERSE THAT ARE UNEMPLOYED, RECENT GRADUATE AND THOSE SEEKING A CAREER CHANGE OR WHO ARE CONCERNED ABOUT JOB SECURITY IN AN INCREASING AND UNCERTAIN ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT, WRITE TO TYRA AND THE SHOWS PRODUCERS TO DEDICATE A SHOW(S) ON MY "THE SEVEN STEPS TO EMPLOYMENT SUCCESS POWER SYSTEM" CAREER SEMINAR. WHAT DO YOU THINK... To your success in 2009, Michael Coritsidis Job Ready Strategist acareercoach4u@yahoo.com

Tyra, I've looking for a job for MONTHS!!! With no luck. To make matters worse I live in two different job worlds. I'm a stage manager which is where my heart lies, but getting PAID for that job is like asking for hell to freeze over. Then theres the "real world" job I'm looking for to support myself and get a new car because mine is the worst car ever created and shouldn't be on the road. I've been doing theatre for so long now that my professional resume looks like crap. I have limited retail experience and its not enough to get a good paying job. If I'm not careful I'm going to be working at Mc donalds or Star Bucks for the rest of my life. I feel stuck. Help?

Hey Tyra! Well, i've wanted to do modeling since i was a little girl but when i get offered something i always have someone telling me that its a scam and that i wont happen. I know i have what i takes to be a model, its my passion and ill do anything for it, but i was just wondering if you could give me some advice and what should be my next step. I hope to hear a respond because this is something i am very passionate about!

Hey tyra im 23 now and it is harder than ever to find a job. I been searching for a little while but it seem as though something that didn't feel so hard before is hader than ever. Im use to working in clothing stores as a sales associate and can honestly say that I haven't worked that many jobs in my life time. I use to live with my mom and for about six months I been living in my own place. My mother left me with the apartment cause she was moving upstate so now I pay for rent, con ed, phone bills and so on. Even though I payed my mom every week while I was working its nothing compared to what I have to pay now. I give my mother two thumbs up cause there's six of us and she did it on her own and im just fending for me and its HARD. searching for work is a job in it self with no pay if you don't land one. It becomes very frustrating especially when your facing the possiblity of being without a place to stay if you have no money left in the bank to pay off your bills. Its a very stressful thing to think about but hard not to when your faced with it. Hopefully things will shift for the better and hopefully the economy will improve and not only me but all those who has lost a job or even find it harder to find one like myself can once again find not only a job but peace of mind!
