Why avoiding carbs altogether makes you MORE likely to eat a whole loaf of bread.
You will be good, you will be good -- but being good doesn't mean refraining altogether. Actually, the more you refuse a small serving of rice or a slice of wheat bread, the faster you'll be caught consuming the whole tray of bread pudding.
Instead of refusing the bread basket every time it gets passed down to your side of the table, serve yourself a moderate helping of carbs at every meal. It's okay to go for a nice plate of pasta packed with veggies and carbs -- or even the small serving of dessert.
If you tell yourself not to think about the elephant in the room, the elephant will fill the room to the point where there's no space left for you in it -- and you'll be more likely to eat your way out of there. So glance at the elephant, say what's up and then chow down on a moderate helping of rice and beans.
