Hey I agree with most of these comments! The choice of having sex is totally up to you. I don't think that girls should blame TV shows coz it's not the TV that told them to go out and have sex and end up getting pregnant. I also think that upbringing is part of a girls decision to have to sex. Parents play a major part in how their children live their lives. If girls were taught right then they should know that if you have sex you need to take precaution and use protection. I am not sexually active beacuse I believe in abstinance. But that's just me. I'm not judging those who are sexually active becuase I have friends who are. But TV has no affect on a girls decision to have sex. And as a result of having sex you get pregnant. Those girls blaming it on TV shows are too immature to blame themselves for having unprotected sex.
YALL NEED to stop bashing on them girls THEY ARE CHILDREN OF GOD and when you have no mom or dad to raise you the t.v raises you and you never know now i don't blame the shows but i do cause they encourage and show teens how easy it is to sin and have no consequences people like me who can't have children would give anything for a child so start loveing on them girls and stop hating because they need yall's love so peace out
Hey Tyra, I'm seventeen and a high school senior who loves to watch reality TV shows. I can say these shows do not have an effect on whether I have sex or not. And to those girls who have gotten pregnant can't blame the shows it was their choice to have sex. I am having sex but I am being safe and taking the percautions needed to prevent becoming pregnant.
I think that tv shows have nothing to do, no matter what they said they have their own thoughts. and I think they know its not real, but they just want to be stupid and blame something for there mistakes.AND I'M ONLY 15!!
I'm a teenage mother, and I can truly say that TV shows didn't "inspire" me to get pregnant. Accidents happen. I didn't happen to see this episode of Tyra, but my friend Danielle was on the show (Danielle, you looked cute girl!) And I'm sorry this show is scripted hardcore and the girls actually don't get to say what they want. That's "reality shows" for ya. I can truly say that television doesn't help target pregnancy. It's triggered by your actions and dumb mistakes. And you can bag on these girls all you want, but if you knew them & what they've actually been through I'm sure you'd change your mind about what you said :)
i dont think that it is the tv shows that get girls pregnant.. now i can understand if girls feel the desire to be like some celebrities and have sex like they are portraying.. but at the same time there is no way these girls dont know how to protect themselves... i think there are other reasons as to why they are wanting to get pregnant
I just don't understand how the TV Shows can be blamed for this. When I was in High School, I didn't know any one that was so ditzy. I guess parents just don't know how to raise their kids any more. If being popular means having to get drunk, have sex, getting pregnant and throwing out your intelligence, then I rather be a loner and smart.
ok 1st off I'm a teen mother and never have I ever seen a show that makes me wanna have unprotected sex it was my chose to do it those girls have some nerve to say a show come on a show would make them wanna do that. i had my son when i was 17 now im 19 happily married about on our second child. Those are some dumb girls who need to check them self's for real
These girls need to own up to their decisions. No one is forcing them to make the decisions that they make. They know the difference between right and wrong. They are consciously getting themselves into the type of situations that they are in and now they have to live with the consequences.
I think those girls on the show wanted attention. I'm 21 years old and throuhout my life I watch shows like "sex in the City", "I love N.Y", "Real World" and the list gos on. They put that on themselves. They open their legs to who that want them. My mom raised us up not to be so STUPID.
I think that this subject is ridiculous! These girls would be having sex and doing the exact same thing they are now or were. These shows have always been on and are just now being blamed for the stupid decision that people do. People need to blame themselves. If you have sex, there is always a risk of becoming pregnant. Don't blame a television show! I've been watching those shows since I was 11 yrs old and I don't have a baby. I also don't act the way those people do either. Maybe the people who are watching these shows and blaming them need to grow up first. I can tell the difference between real life and tv. They obviously can't and it's their own fault.
Most of the comments are alike in saying that the girls are stupid. Eventhough they arent entirely blaming TV for going out and getting pregnant they are almost using it as an excuse or a scapegoat for their mistakes. They arent stupid theyre just ignorant and under the influence.
First I'm 16 years old and i don't believe that these tv shows influences girls. I think any girl who's influenced by a tv show is stupid i watch shows that invole sex and im still a virgin. The shows just show me what not to be. Girls who get influence by tv need to grow up seriously.
What you constantly put into your head will eventually come out. These girls weren't totally blaming the shows they watch on them getting pregnant, they were simply saying that the shows influenced them in a negative way to engage in these types of activities. Seeing teens on TV have sex without consequence denies the truth about what really happens when people who are too young to engage in sexual relations, do. I just wish they would portray someone who is living a "glamorous" lifestyle, while remaining abstinate, for whatever reason they choose. What ever happened to "just saying no" being the thing to do? Why aren't parents talking to their kids about their expectations for sex? It's true these girls have responsibility in this. However, in our culture these days sex is what sales..everything and in doing so cheapens it while at the same time hyping it up. How many of you all bought something because you saw it advertised on TV? I'd venture to say 90 percent. In my opinion having sex at such young ages with multiple partners is just practice for divorce. Teenagers are too young to deal with the emotional and physical carnage that often follows the awkwardness after. Parents talk to your teens about your expectations for them for sex. Fathers get involved in your kids' lives. Teenagers make life deciscions with your brain.. not the raging hormones in it. I'm not an old person with old views either. I'm a 23 year old who's been there before and has witnessed too many teenager's hearts break and lives change over sex. It boils down to one thing.. Teenagers are still children who need their parent's guidance and unconditional love.
Anyone who actually believes that watching a certain show like the Real World and Rock of Love will all of the sudden make you decide you should start doing drugs or get pregnant is obviously extremely naive. If you base your life on what you see on TV you are going to live one sad life. What you do, how you act, and who you hang out with has to do with how you are raised and your OWN personal decisions. Maybe some shows on TV are a little too extreme for lets say maybe a 12 year old to watch, but that is no reason to blame why you got pregnant. Haha, you got pregnant because you were the one who wasn't being 100 % cautious. I am not saying anything negative toward the girls and they could be great mothers, but come on own up to your own decisions..
