i dont think they make teens have sex but they do put things in there head.im 20 years old and at 16 i lost my virginity and had a kid who is 3 now.for me watching the show just made me wanna try it out.but i was scared so i just did it.but it was my idea to sleep with him and i did,i love my daugther to death and i wouldnt change a thing about the past.it happened for a reason everything does.
I feel that TV may influence a teens' behavior, but, ultimately, it's THEIR CHOICE whether or not to spread their legs!
well honestly i don't think that T.V. has any affect on teen pregnancy. see i am a 16 yr. and have a 5 week old baby girl. and i did watch those shows, but it's not why i got pregnant.teens just use it as an excuse and it's ridiculous because they shouldn't blame anything on television because the t.v. doesn't say "GO have SEX it's fun, and while your add it GEt pregnant or don't use a condom." you can't blame the t.v. for your mistakes. and you can regret something because during the moment that's what you wanted. and if ppl are getting pregnant or having sex because it looks fun on t.v. well reality is those ppl are called actors and they are acting.
I just wanted to say that yes tv can be influential and yes it does glamorize sex, but anyone over the age of three knows that tv is a fantasy land and things in real life are never as good as on tv. That'd be like saying oh I went to McDonalds and I thought my cheeseburger was going to be amazing but it wasn't anything like it looked on tv, everyone in America knows that. That being said, I would just like to say that I was disgusted by the girls calling their children a consequence. How could anyone say that about their child. I know first hand about teen pregnancy I got pregnant when I was 17. I had a very complicated pregnancy and myself and my son almost died. I was willing to sacrifice my life to save my son's if that is what it took. My son is 7 now and he is the most important thing in my life and has been since the day I found out I was pregnant. His father and I are married and now I am pregnant with my second child, we have been together through thick and thin and the fact that anyone would call their child a consequence makes me sick to my stomache.
i honestly dont think T.V has the fault. i believe everyone has values, is up to them to apply them and make the best of the situation.
There is no way TV has had any influence...There has been teen sex before these shows. Yes in todays time it is more "acceptable" to be discussed, shown on tv, and isnt look down upon as it has been in the past. If teens are educated more on these issues (at home and in school) there should be no blame on TV...by this age you should a have a pretty smart head on your shoulders and you should know whats safe and whats not...thre is no excuess or any one or show to blame...and if I am not mistaken..Season one on Gossip Girl..Chuck mentioned he DOES use protection... Either way...if you are smartly educated on the topic and paid attention in school and parents are talking openly with kids there is no one to blame but the teen...
Hey Tiffany I watch the show and Tyra didn't sound mean or cruel to the Girls. she didn't even say TV WAS the reason> Thats what the girls said. Tyra was saying that there was more to the sex and drugs and so on, on the shows, like the bad side like car wreck, stds and pregnancy scares. The main problem is the ball-less parents and the- think headed children(their parent show just throw out the TV for these kids) YOUR to OLD to be this ignorant. It people like you that makes me want to disown you from my generation. Re watch the show again. and those girl are dumb to blame it on TV. those shows are stupid and dumb. It unrealistic . probably way i don't watch it. I'm 19 a virgin and with bf(virgin too)
I believe that no matter who anyone blames anything on, whether it's a TV show, or the parents, or bad influences with friends, etc... People make their own decicions... I'm sorry, but unless you grew up in a BUBBLE, and didn't go to school, AND had parents that didn't teach sex education, Then how in the world do people not know that pregnancy, and STD's can result from sex. I learned this in 5th Grade!!! AS far as TV Goes, Come on People, TV shows have everything from people flying to people coming to life after they die!!! So again unless you grew up in a Bubble, How could you possibly think that TV is remotely real?
i think it's the parents responsiblity, because if you watch the shows that promote these situations; it shows the mothers not paying attention to their kids to start getting involved with their lives, and to the parent themselves to stop going around and sleeping with whoever they see. so i think that these shows want the kids or teens that just because mom or dad are hooking up with whoever they want they don't have to. and for those that watch gossip girl and see how chuck treats woman; i think it shows girls not to rebel by sleeping with whoever and to look out for the guys that just want to sleep with them. i hate everyone saying that these shows are responsible, but i see it as a lesson not to do these things because of the consequences that they will face if they go through with the situation.
I would like to say upfront that I am a 22 year old virgin and am waiting till I am married to have sex. I watch television shows that are explicit in sexual behaviors. I try to monitor myself from watching these types of shows because they actually trigger a part of my mind that says maybe its ok. I do believe that television shows like this are a deciding factor in making choices about sexual behavior especially to people who have not already made decisions about sex. However I do believe that we all have the power to make choices for ourselves. So with that said there any many factors in why a person decides to have sex.
ANGELA, you're right. We can't blame ALL of the parents. I've forgot that there are a lot of hard-headed kids out there who listens to their friends and the TUBE than their own Mom and Dad. Still, folks. When it's time to give them "the talk," and teach them how to make good choices and set priorities that they won't regret NOT having, it's best to do that.
Hey, TIFFANY, are you a teen mother and made that same mistake as them? By your comment, you sure are defending the girls and accusing Tyra of being a hypocrite. Just asking.
TIFFANY No one forced these girls when they found out that the show was not going to be what they thought it was to go on and say stupid things. THEY CHOOSE THEIR FIFTEEN MINUTES OF FAME. But becuz it showed them as stupid as they really are they ar all now mad. I know ur friend too and her momma is the one who takes care of baby
Hey, Tyra, let me tell you something, you may HAVE BEEN a super model, and whatever and you may want to SEEM like a nice person. But you are crule. You already have the show, and the populartiy and your always trying to teach girls that its okay to be their selves. Well, Im sorry that your personality isn't even close to being what you try to pull off. You treated your GUEST like crap. They didn't need you making them sound badly. Don't you think they realize, don't you think that these beautiful girls are strong for KEEPING their what you made sound like MISTAKES. At least their taking responsibily and doing their best. You belittled these two girls and for that you should quit your show, because you obviously don't know how to help people just WRONGLY JUDGE!!!!!!! I know Danielle, and she is goin through soo much for her son and all she wanted was to help teen girls realize that what happened to her could happen to anyone, and to be careful. And so you know Trya, PROTECTION- CONDOMS-BIRTH CONTROL, htey DON'T PREVENT PREGNANCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They HELP TO PREVENT IT!!!! So instead of blaming this all on TV... Why not just have a show on staying a virgin. That's all it is if you make the decision to have sex then you have a chance of becoming pregnant. I have a question Tyra... Your not a virgin and if you got pregant would you BLAME it on TV?
i think shows like gossip girl and 90210 are very entertaining and although they seem 2 promote sex it also open our eyes 2 see the reality of what really goes on with teens.
