I think that shows or movies that contain a lot of explicit content can influence an adoloescent. However, I don't think that it's the reason why girls become pregnant, they choose to have sex and obvioulsy not use protection. We all have our moral values and can immediatley distinguish the difference between right and wrong, so girls who have sex and get pregnant. . .that's all your fault right there. Yeah to some extent I do agree that so many shows deal with sexual activity and the abuse of drugs and alcohol but you either choose to watch that type of material and get ideas or you can totally avoid what you think could brainwash you.

No I don't think so because all the influences come from the people you hang around and if a teen hangs around girls that have sex and get pregnant then chances are they will too. It also depends on if the teen has a positive female role model to look up to.

Actually, yes i do. TV show do influence teens, trust me I am a teen. You could say that things are painted so PERFECT on tv, but they do not show the concequences of their actions. Yes, we are the ones who decide if were going to have sex, but when eveybody looks so happy and content with their lives... you could say you try to replicate that feeling in your life.....

you cant blame television for pregnancies but u also cannot say that it doesnt have some sort of influence upon a young girls mind. Take the secret life of the american teenager for example...that show glamorizes pregnancy like its okay for a young girl to get pregnant in todays society...its not okay but you also boils down to whether or not the child is being raised properly...or is the childs self esteem is low and if she is looking to sex as a form of love there are many reasons for teenage pregnancy and it doesnt jus come from one source...

Well obviously they got themselves pregnant. But still, what if 12 year ols were watching Gossip Girl. Then What? And I mean seriously, maybe t.v shows don't make people get pregnant. But they definately influence you to have sex. They make you think about it. Shows like Gossip Girl are just sexualising young girls. I honestly don't watch Gossip Girl. You wonder why. I mean if you were 16 years old and you got pregnant, well you can't exactly blame the t.v. It was kinda of your own mistake. You knew what you were doing. But then again what made you want to have sex in the first place. Was it because of the t.v and media and how they portray girls. Or could it be when you were 10 years old, and instead of watching Cartoons you were watching television shows like Gossip Girl. Wouldn't that have a helping hand in your decision to have sex?

I think it falls back on how someone is raised. If you look at shows like "Gossip girl" the parents involvement in their children lives is little. They are so worried about their own issues that they fail to pay attention to their children and what they are doing. The teens in those shows act to grown for their own good. That can translate into real life. If a parent is not involved in their child's life, that child can do whatever whenever and however they please. I have been blessed with wonderful parents who have taught me what is right from wrong. I live in Chicago IL and yes I am under 21 and have walked into clubs and sat at the bar and ordered a drink or 2...im not saying im Innocent....iam saying however, because my parents are involved in my life i know its not okay to go galabanting all across the city in a sloppy drunken state.....shows may have a small influence but it stems back to the way a person was raised

For some girls shows and movies could have an affect on young girls because some girls try to become something they are not and try to become the people they see on television shows or movies. But personally, no these things dont give me the urge to open my legs to just any guy because that is just not my style.

HI Tyra, and yes i think shows like that do influence teens to have sex, because us as teens are so curious we like to try everything. i see this type of thing all the time at my school, but anyways yes i do think that shows like 90210 and gossip girl influence teens to more likely be sexually active.

It's maybe because people are different because it depends on the type of person you are. Also many people have different personalities and some are easily influenced and some aren't. In my opinion i think that people are who they are.

its a yes and a no . yes because the parents on these shows are like o ok this and that ,wen in reality parents of teen girls arent gunna be like that so its showing us teens that its okay . but then its a no because i am a teen and still avirgin and i watch all these shows . and i no what is right from wrong & so should all these girls as well . everyone has a mind of their own and they shouldno that getting pregnant at a young age isnt good && they are threwing their life away . so therefore, teens should no whats right from wrong !

I guess it may have an influence but then again, everyone still have morals. You know what is right and wrong, safe and unsafe. I think that it is an excuse and they do not want to blame for their own actions. I mean, i'm a teen and i haven't had sex. If I were to do so, I know that I need to use protection.
