Putting the FUN in dysfunction!
"Four Christmases" comes out this weekend, and not only does it star two of our fave comedic actors -- Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn -- but it's also about one of our favorite topics: Christmas! Reese and Vince are a couple trying to avoid the holidays completely -- but they end up with not one, but FOUR celebrations to be at in one day as they're forced to visit all four of their divorced parents. If you want more wacky, family holiday misadventures, check out our four fave, dysfunctional Christmases.
"Home Alone" (1990)
Who knew a movie about neglectful parenting could get so huge? Starring a very young Macaulay Culkin and Joe Pesci, one of our favorite comedy stars, this was flick was a favorite back in the day -- and it's one of our favorites still.
"National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" (1989)
You know any activity the Griswold family takes part in is going to end in laughs -- and tears. Trying to win over his family's admiration, Clark arranges a huge, brightly lit to-do. We cringe at the sheer thought of it.
"A Christmas Story" (1983)
What would a dysfunctional family Christmas list be without this classic? The correct answer is: incomplete. Sure, it's set in the '40s, but we can all relate to the sheer obsession over the one thing you just have to have for Christmas -- lest you DIE. This flick is also responsible for spawning countless quotes. Seriously, who hasn't said "you'll shoot your eye out!" at least once?
"The Family Stone" (2005)
While it definitely has its moments of funny -- and how could it not when it stars a Wilson brother -- this recent family fave actually had us sobbing by the end. It's hard to imagine Carrie Bradshaw -- colorful New York fashionista and sex columnist -- as a buttoned-up, severe businesswoman, but there she is in all her uptight glory. And Diane Keaton -- how could you NOT love this one?
