Hate that awkward "Where do I sit?" cafeteria moment? Pull up a chair. We've got you covered.

beyourself.jpgThere's no denying the fear factor of starting a new school and finding new friends. Even looking back years from now, your first days at a new school will still give you the willies. Don't sweat it! You're fab -- your new classmates just don't know it yet! Here are a few tips to get your new, soon-to-be BFFs to see that, too.

Join Up
It's a lot easier to connect to people if you meet in smaller groups rather than wandering aimlessly through crowded halls. Simple solution: Join a club. You'll be in a room full of people who have at least one similar interest as you. If you're in the punk rock appreciation society together, chances are there's someone willing to kick it and listen to your record collection with you.

Ask Away
It's so much easier to dish on a topic you're well-versed in. And what do we know more about than ourselves? If you meet someone who's destined to be your gal-pal soul mate, chat her up about, well, her. Start asking her questions, she'll do the same and before you know it, you're sooo Thelma and Louise.

Merge
To make life a little easier, look for ways you can combine your old friends with your new ones. Your BFF since kindergarten might feel a little territorial when she meets the new "her" from your new school. Help the two find some common ground before the claws come out. Start out by saying, "Jen, this is Lisa. She might be a bigger Jonas Brothers fan than you!" Now you know you can bring both of them to a JoBro's concert and have an awesome time.
