Do you care that the girls on "90210" ditched their lunch trays without eating?

90210.jpgWithout our cult-favorite TV shows, whatever would we talk about? We all know that people have been paying plenty of lip service to the new "90210" lately -- especially since last week's scandal-generating cafeteria scene. On the most recent episode, Shenae Grimes' and Jessica Stroup's characters ditched their lunch trays without sampling any of their food -- and a controversy erupted.

The scene shows the two girls sitting with heaping tray-fulls of burgers and fries. Though there is a significant amount of conversation, and the scene lasts a few minutes, the only time anyone actually eats any of the goodies is when a friend stops by the table for a little noshing. Then the trays go into the garbage, food untouched.

Critics says this scene was bad news for girls who might already be struggling with trying to look like the picture-perfect stars on TV. But do you think it's a big deal? This is a television show, after all. And we have no idea how many times the girls filmed this scene, or how many times they had to scarf down fries and burgers. Perhaps this final take was the best one, but unfortunately one where the actresses had eaten their fill and executed their scene brilliantly -- without muching.

You tell us: In a world where teens like you are already bombarded with images of super-skinny women in movies and in magazines, do you think it sets a bad example when actresses your age ditch their food rather than eating? Or do you think the controversy about this particular "90210" scene is much ado about nothing?

Are you serious? Do you know how many times it takes to do a scene? Who would want to eat over and over and over just to make a scene in a drama show. C' mon you people are overthinking this way to much. People shouldn't be spineless drones and follow the latest fad either. Jesus people.

I don't think the food scene is a big deal because half the time cafeteria food is nasty anyway. What I thought was a beg deal was when "Silver" was wearing a skirt or dress (can't remember which) and I saw her legs. My 11 year old cousin's legs are bigger than hers and my cousin wears a size small. I had to do a double take becuase I thought the episode was going to be about anorexia or something. And considering that the camera adds 20 pounds, that should be a concern, not a fictional scene.

It's a tv show people!!! who cares if they eat or not.

I think that them not eating in the scene isn't a big deal. This isn't an eating show, it's a show where people talk, or whatever. I can't really remember the scene, but I'm sure it wasn't focusing on eating... If this makes any sense at all.

i DO THINK THAT THEY ARE TOO THIN. a WAKE UP CALL IS DEFINATELY NEEDED BEFORE IT GET BAD.

If they had in fact ate the huge plate full of fries and burgers... what message is that sending. Dont be food conscious? Eat what you want and youll still have the perfect body? The idea a growing teen age girl would eat a huge amount of unhealthy food when she lives in 90210.. or even just wants to look healthy and skinny like the rest of us, well thats just as unreal. p.s. just becuase someone isnt constantly eating does not mean there anorexic? every time i see a fat girl eating i dont make fun of her... be realistic. Anyway everyone is just making a big deal out of the fact these girls didnt eat for a whole two minutes...

Don't you think that them eating fatty burgurs and fries is good either?? they are how they are, some people have high metobalisms! And it was a SCENE in a SHOW!!!! Yes, it should be realistic, but the bell rung, and most teens don't have time to even eat their lunch because they are gossiping. Actresses don't worrt about eating the food in scenes, they worry about spitting out the right lines. I bet some fat person insecure about their weight started this article because of their jealousy and insecurity. Get over them.

ANNOREXIC

i think the controvesial thing should be that they are eating hamburgers and fries in the cafeteria! i wouldnt eat that either. grab some veggies.

Come ON! No one on tv eats. I don't think that it was intentional. Tyra, don't do a show putting them down because they are thin. People knit-pick everything thin women/girls do. Ridiculous!

As a twenty two year old woman I sometimes see these type of girls and get caught up in my weight and say things like i need to lose weight i need to tone my stomach but in all reality i am real and i am beautiful and i know that but alot of these younger girls don't know that and don't realize that they are beautiful and they get caught up in the hipe of being skinny and unhealthy looking and i think it needs to stop especially in this day and age little girls are growing up faster and paying attention to things that we didn't use to before at that age. If anything is going to be done it needs to be now and we need to stick together and stand firm.

The other day i had a nine year old girl tell me she wanted to lose weight in her belly. She told me she wanted it to obe flat like the girls she seen on tv and whats crazy about it is that she's not over weight and she doesn't have any fat on her, but she like alot of other young girls she these tiny girls and wnat to be them look like them and even look up to them. I personally think these girls are to small and believe that they should gain alittle weight ir be replaced by someone nurished and healthy looking. Those girls are great actress but they are alittle too tiny.

When I was in high school last year I remembered some days I would eat and some days I will wait til I got home. So no I don't think tv would make someone stop eating.

I don't think it's a big deal. It's TV, not reality, people. Besides, we all know how gross cafeteria food is!
