Do you care that the girls on "90210" ditched their lunch trays without eating?

90210.jpgWithout our cult-favorite TV shows, whatever would we talk about? We all know that people have been paying plenty of lip service to the new "90210" lately -- especially since last week's scandal-generating cafeteria scene. On the most recent episode, Shenae Grimes' and Jessica Stroup's characters ditched their lunch trays without sampling any of their food -- and a controversy erupted.

The scene shows the two girls sitting with heaping tray-fulls of burgers and fries. Though there is a significant amount of conversation, and the scene lasts a few minutes, the only time anyone actually eats any of the goodies is when a friend stops by the table for a little noshing. Then the trays go into the garbage, food untouched.

Critics says this scene was bad news for girls who might already be struggling with trying to look like the picture-perfect stars on TV. But do you think it's a big deal? This is a television show, after all. And we have no idea how many times the girls filmed this scene, or how many times they had to scarf down fries and burgers. Perhaps this final take was the best one, but unfortunately one where the actresses had eaten their fill and executed their scene brilliantly -- without muching.

You tell us: In a world where teens like you are already bombarded with images of super-skinny women in movies and in magazines, do you think it sets a bad example when actresses your age ditch their food rather than eating? Or do you think the controversy about this particular "90210" scene is much ado about nothing?

Hi Tyra. I am looking to get my daughter into modeling. She is 3yrs old and has an outgoing personality. Where would be good legitimate places to look into for the city of Atlanta.

I didn't even notice while watching this episode. However I'm a mentally healthy person. About a year ago I was on my way towards anorexia, and my mind wasn't working the way it should have been. I was obsessed with food and weight, I was constantly comparing myself to models and celebrities, and I had a very strong fear of gaining weight. Back then, I may have noticed that they didn't eat. Mind you, at that point it wouldn't have really mattered, because I was already so messed up. I don't think it's such a big deal though. Can you really imagine someone watching that, and realizing that the actresses hadn't eaten, and saying "From now on I'm not going to eat lunch because I want to look like them, and they don't eat lunch?" No. That's ridiculous. Unless you're mentally ill, you probably won't think much of it. And remember, it's a TV show. For all we know, that food could have been nothing more than plastic props.

I just started high school this year, and I feel that an ACTUAL school and realistic environment is even worse than tv. At real schools, no one eats. I don't think tv has anything to do with it anymore.

dude i would love to be considered skinny for once in my life... =/ i mean i give props to thick girls that are confident and proud of how they look, thats awesome..but i cant do that ..im 19 5'5 and i weigh 195.. and im super self cautious, sometimes i dont even want my bf to hug me cuz ive seen his ex's and they're skinny..he doesnt say anything to make me feel the way im feeling, so i thank God for that but it still makes me feel ugly.. this is a real issue..and the media crap isnt helping..it sucks ..can anybody relate to me?

Since When is it wrong to be who you are! Im not skinny and so what i get intimmedated by those girls that say "oh im so fat" Dont listen to them be who you are and dont starve your self since when is it a crime to weigh over 115 pounds. Your Beautiful in every way!

i think its not a big deal because even if you do skip lunch you dont lose weight from it unless your straving yourself the whole day. i would know. and some people just dont eat lunch because there not hungary.

i watched that episode and i honestly didnt even notice

personally, i would not be paying attention to what they are eating, but rather what they are saying. Words, sometimes, speak louder than actions...

I think it is an issue...Look at many teens today say i wanna look like her on tv or young girls saying it...I think its become a thing where alot of people want that perfect body they see on TV..I do it to...i wish i could look like some of them stars also(Espically Marska Hargitay shes so gourgous and amazing and pretty i love her shes my favorite actress ever all time over the top)... But i think alot of teens also r taking it to the point where its out of hand they see there favorite celeb is so skinny and say they have an Eating Disorder they want to be just like them which is not healthy....

I don't think it's such a big deal that they didn't eat on the show. I mean come on... they probably did that scene like 7 times. I wouldn't want to eat seven burgers in one day while I'm trying to say lines. I'm only 13 and I'm smart enough to know this, so other teens older than me should understand that. I think that the problem isn't that they didn't eat but how thin the girls actually are. You can see their ribs. It's like when you look at a badly treated unhealthy dog, you see their ribs. Why would someone want to be like that?

I deffinately think it's an issue. Many teens suffer from poor body image, thinking that being skinny is the best thing in the world. P.S- I'm eating right now :D

I think that it sets another horrible example for the young girls that do watch it. You have Shenae Grimes coming from a popular teen soap opera like Degrassi, so the young kids see she is on it and want to watch her new show. My own sister has fallen victim to that. Its really doesnt matter what the majority of viewers are, there are still young girls watching it and will try to copy what they see.

I think that they are setting a bad example because some people just dont realize being skinny isnt everything and people TRY to be happy and comfortable in your own skin.

It's a TV show. I didnt even NOTICE it. Sorry they dont have time for a scene of them eating and walking to take up their tray. And some days people dont eat if the lunch is bad. Gosh people.
