The National Campaign to prevent teen pregnancy offers these tips to parents trying to help their teens make the right decisions.

- Be clear about your own sexual values and attitudes.
- Talk with your children early and often about sex, and be specific.
- Supervise and monitor your children and adolescents.
- Know your children's friends and their families.
- Discourage early, frequent and steady dating.
- Take a strong stand against your daughter dating a boy significantly older than she is. And don't allow your son to develop an intense relationship with a girl much younger than he is.
- Help your teenagers have options for the future that are more attractive than early pregnancy and parenthood.
- Let your kids know that you value education highly.
- Know what your kids are watching, reading and listening to.
- These tips for helping your children avoid teen pregnancy work best when they occur as part of strong, close relationships with your children that are built from an early age.

On the teen pregnancy show i believe not much advice was given as some of the girls were just smilling as if that was a showoff. Please letts have more like teens already with babies to share experiences and this will enlighten the others.

Thanks Tyra for the teen pregnancy show last week but as i watched and listened, there was less discussion on how we need to talk to our teens regarding sexuallity and as i watched i was extremely sad and mad with the girls pregnant and just laughing as if they had come to show off their pgs. Well my daughter who is 11years was like so what advice did they get? Please if this show can be done again and have teens already with kids involved and share their experiences that would work. More advice needed as not all parents are able to give enough like me .

I think that instead of parents being totally against their teenagers having realationships etc. they should make sure that they know all about STD's and the like. Also it helps to have a good, honest realationship as this means that they can talk to their kids about this stuff and their teenager gets to the legal age for sex they can discuss methods of contraception so that the teenager is protected. And... do you know if the Tyra Show will ever be on a channel in the uk :-)x

i am a teenager, and my parents are not so strict with me, the point im attempting to make is that it is up to the child to have values, teenagers will do what they want to do, no restrictions will stop them they will only want more of what they are not allowed and in my opinion it is necessary only for the parents to have values and instill them in their children so that they can make the right decision.
