Find your adorkable inner Einstein!

Prom Queen? Pom Squad Captain? Popularity Princess? Those pastimes are so passé. Today more and more teen girls are embracing their inner geek goddess. From science club presidents to website wizards, ladies are getting nerdilicious like never before. And more importantly, they're proud of being geek chic.
According to Newsweek, teen girls rule the blogosphere and social networking sites, creating far more websites than boys. And female gamers ages 25 to 34 far outnumber their male counterparts.
We've got four tips for finding your own adorkable inner Einstein.
Join the Club
There are oodles of organizations devoted to getting girls plugged into math and science. Think of them as matchmakers for your mind. The National Education Association offers a lengthy list for smarty-pants sisters.
Read It and Geek
You've spent the summer strumming on Guitar Hero (trust us, you're never going to get the chords right on "Sweet Child of Mine.") Why not switch things up and play a little Science Hero? This brilliant book list features fiercely fascinating science stories.
Bright Idea
Instead of waiting around for some old dudes to design a better bulb, why not tip your own inventor's cap? As Thomas Edison said, "Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration." So ladies, let 'em see you sweat! You might even earn some mental moolah with these young inventor competitions.
Smart Talk
Don't you dare be bashful about being a brainiac! Fly your geek flag high! Show off your intelligence like you would a new pair of pricey pumps. According to the NEA, a recent study found that seventy-one percent of male teachers are more likely to attribute boys' success in technology to talent, while dismissing girls' success as luck or diligence. Time to prove them wrong!

Heyy Tyra!
I think that being geek chic is amazing! I would rather show everyone that I'm smart and that I'm good in school, than being that dumb girl who just acts stupid to get attention. I think that smart girls should embrace who they are and not care what anybody else thinks, because in the end, you're only doing it for yourself.
Thanks for putting such awesome topics on your show. I love watching it!
xo elisa!
hey tyra im a 15 year old latin girl and i go to milby high. im currently a junior . i personally dont consider my self a nerd but i like skool and peple call me a nerd i used to feel insecure with guyz that were popular and flt lower than them. also when i would see da girlz from my skool ill feel ugly cuz im not really curvaciouz if u get me lol. i wear all kindz of clothez and i like geekz da onez da i know are awsome there sweetheart and da geeky guyz arent bad a all i actually enjoy dat in a person. i used to b attraced to da gangsta type and still am but for there personality not exactly theyr image =] we should luv our selves whetther ur a cheerleader or a bookworm itz da inside dat countz dont be someone ur not. ive seen popular gurlz try to be geeky for otherz approval but be ur self to god were all unique this worldz definiton of unique isnt quite da best so keep ur head high and enoy u.
I believe each person needs to embrace their individuality. If I say that I am a gamer. I do not want to be put in a group called "gamer." There are so many types of games to play. There's D&D roleplaying, video games, MMO/RPG games, board games, etc. These games require strategic critical thinking skills that can help in the real world with school/life. And the games are a form of a social life for many people.

Hey Tyra!
I'm a girl living in Los Alamos, where these scientists put their heads together and built the atomic bomb, so i'm not the smartest person here.
But don't get me wrong, i may be at the bottom of this smartness ladder, but i'm smarter than some, and therefore called a geek and a nerd.
But VERY proud of who i am.
Never afraid to be smart, and intelligence, for me, is power!
You're AWESOME, Tyra!!! Keep it up!!! ^^
Geek Chic for life,
~Alanna~
I'm a totaly geek chic, and I love it!
Not as smart as the kids around here, but that's because the smartest people in the world live here in Los Alamos. Oh well, Math rocks, you just have to figure out what's going on.
Just today started reading and watching what you do, and truth: YOU ROCK!
Geek family is mine, geek chick is i, and i love anything having to do with school (for some reason)
Keep up the awesome work!!! ^^

Hi Tyra,
I am a geek and i love it.I love my personality and the fact that i am smart.I do not think that there is anything wrong with being intelligent.I also dress kind of "preppy",i wear clothes that i like and that make me feel good about myself and i think everyone should feel good when they put on their clothes no matter what size they are or how they are placed in the social ladder.I am a 17 year old young lady who is proud of who she is.

My name is Isis. I am president of Class of '09. This will be one hectic and busy yet fun year. I am taking AP Calculus this upcoming school year. I am planning on majoring in architectural engineering and already designing my dream home. Since I am president, I have to give my class the best year of their high school years. Right now, I am currently planning the fashion show. I don't know when I should have it. Fall, winter or spring? I was thinking have a New York Fashion Week theme. For example, the background should be the NY skyline.( built from boxes). Maybe have velvet ropes on the catwalk. The clothes? I have no idea where to begin. I need help! suggestions. anything. Please.

I think that if i had a choice of being popular or a geek/dork i would rather be a geek/dork. Just because I am a geek doesn't mean I am not popular. Sometimes i think that people who are popular fake themselves to be popular. I want to be myself not to be popular and have fake friends. Its not right to lie just to make you look cool. If they were your friends they wouldn't care. I also think that cliques are fine but it wouldn't hurt to hang out with a dork best friend when your popular. It would show that your a good person if you are friends with everyone. Same thing with bullies, maybe if they open up they would have friends and they would not need to bully people to be near someone because all they want is a friend because their lonely. Girls and guys should open up and be their inner self even if they are popular, geeky, or whatever sterotype people/themselves label them.
dear tyra,
my name is Yashida Dariah and i'm from St. Croix, Virgin Islands. I am 16 and I am very smart. when people see me they don't think that i could be capable of having all A's on my Report Card. I have locks, I am thick and i like to joke around alot, i don't like to study, and i also don't like to be in the books. But i do and when its time to get to work i always work hard. so its ok if your smart because if you do really well you can get alot of rewards such as being in National Honors Society and always getting certificates, prizes, etc.
