There is a website [[loopt.com]] where you can type in someones cellphone number and track them. You have to pay for it, but that might be how the stalkers know where the family always was. I read it in an old Seventeen magazine.

I think that to stop the stalkers from viewing them through their cell phones they could take the battery out of their phone while they aren't using it. For example, when they go to bed, or when they are just sitting around the house watching a movie or eating dinner. This would make it so the stalkers could not turn on their cell phone without them knowing.

You know, it would have been nice, instead of scaring everybody and not offering any answers... just turn off Bluetooth on your phone if you are really worried.
If you have a smartphone with Windows Mobile, anti-virus products are available for it.
You only other real attack vector is if someone physically gets your phone, or if you have a smartphone and download an application from an untrusted source. For these situations you just need to exercise common sense and healthy skepticism.

Tyra I am going through a situation right now as we speak,I have a stalker that has been texting me hundred times a day,I have changed my number several times but this person manages to get my new numbers,I dont know what else to do..I have contacted my local police and they told me there is really nothing they can do,I am very tired of this situation and dont know what else to do..this person has even got my husbands cell phone and sends him disturbing messages i am at wits end and dont know who to turn to for help.

I just don't believe this story. It just seems too out there. I don't understand how they were all linked together. How would they know how to get in touch with other people in the family that are not in the household? Just seems odd to me. And plus people will do anything for a shot at being on tv and a possible free trip.

I was trying to explain what criminals could do and see through a cell phone and I can't get my brother-in-law to understand or believe what was said on your 7/28/08 program about cell phone stalkers.I don't have a cell phone but he does. If you wanted to get rid of those stalkers I could easily bore them to death.Ienjoy most of your shows.GOOD JOB! D.

hi tyra! i just watched your show on cellphone stalkers and know how much of a threat this type of thing can be and i can tell you some things about that. i know that if you have (BLUETOOTH) on your phone that is one of the way hackers can steal your information on your phone like pictures, contact numbers, personal information, ect. they can easily get your information as long as your in range of a laptop or computer. they use a (BLUETOOTH) router or scanner. knowing this you must always be aware of computers around you. be aware of a little antenna like device either on a laptop or computer. always be aware of your surroundings if your a victim. be advised that once they get your information from your cellphone you must change cellphone or number immediately. now, if the problem presist then you know that the prowler is close to you and start tracking where you been and who or what was around you. always check your (BLUETOOTH)and your phone and make sure the bluetooth is "off" at all times and no files are being transferred. the only way to catch these people is in the act.

knowing this the people have to be in range to activate your phone and see what your wearing....if this happens i would strongly advise to think about neighbors or anyone within in about 300-500 feet from you.

i have a little info for girls who are phone harased if they come to your house and try to kill you you call your naber not the police but befor this you make up geperish make up your own words so they cant make out what your saying but wants you get on the phone with your nabor tell them to cal the police but tell her to tell the police to be quit about it but fast. but hopfully this doesnt happen to enyone.

When I saw this show I was really confused. I am just wondering how these people can tell you what your wearing by looking at you through your cell phone becasue the thing is, most of the time you don't have your camera facing you, it's in your pocket or purse but unless you are always like facing the cell phone camera at you how could they see you?

My friend went on myspace one day and she had a bunch of messages saying she was fake....her name is Megan...the people kept sending her links to this other girl's myspace, i looked at the pictures on that one, the pictures this girl had were some pictures that I took of Megan with my cell phone, no one else had them. She even said her name was Megan, and she had all of her information. Everyone believed that this girl was the real Megan, but her and I knew it wasn't. Even teachers at school had her as a friend because she kept asking them for help during class so they looked her up because she was sick for a couple weeks. So we were kind of freaked out we reported this girl..she was deleted, My friend made a new myspace I got a new phone and we haven't had any problems since

Tyra, Thanks for the program about high-tech harassment. I am days away from buying a new cell phone and was considering a "smart phone". I will probably NOT, now. I need a mobile PHONE, not another worry.

It would be soooo nice if makers would build from a customer security angle for all of their products. Should I (newbie) have to spend weeks (?) finding and changing settings to protect myself? Why not start up safe and choose to loosen up, rather than start up wide open and learn the hard way?

My first contact with MS Vista was ridiculous!!! Pages 2-10 of "new user" info was all about how to change the colors on the desktop and about downloading music, etc. It took a week of reading small print to find and set up the most basic security functions!!! crap. I knew enough to be scared of downloading ANYTHING before I set up my security.
