Powerful ways to use extra time this summer.

If you find yourself with a lotta, or even just a little, extra time this summer -- here are some super ways to use it!

Write a Letter
A single letter can change someone's life and you have the power to write it. Amnesty International has chapters all over the world that adopt people who are being held hostage without rights or reason. These chapters meet to write letters to ambassadors in attempt to free these prisoners of conscience. Search for a chapter near you, grab a pen and fight the good fight!

Donate Blood
Giving blood can be as easy as getting a pedicure. Grab a couple of girlfriends, visit your local Red Cross donation location , sit back and chit chat. Before you know it you've caught up with all your girls AND saved a life!

Help Build a Home
Hammers and nails aren't just for brawny boys! With Habitat for Humanity , everyone is welcome to grab some gear and help build a home for a family in need. Haven't built a house before? No worries, most people don't have it on their resume either. But after this, YOU can add it! Lend a hand locally or make a vacation of it and travel with some friends to a far-off locale.

Check Out Your Community
From signing up for two-year charity trips in foreign countries to donating a few minutes in your hometown, there are tons of ways to be a superhero this summer. Check out volunteermatch.org to find what you can do.

I thought I had a great before college summer planned & in July it went bad. I went to California with my dad the second day I was there I woke up partially paralized. I couldn't stand, move my fingers, sit-up. My father rushed me to St. Joespth's in Orange California and within 12 hours they diagnosed me with Transverse Myelitis. My spine swelled and they gave me IV therapy for 5 days and I will have PT & OT for the next 3 to 6 months. I'm 18 walking with a walker and learning how to write again. Not fair but getting through.

Hi Tyra...I think im going to try all of them! They all seem fun and plus im doing nothing but taking summer classes so when im bored, I'll try these topics. Thanks love you!
