First and foremost I would like to address to the women who were offended that I feel sorry for you that you felt that this show was about you (Don't take offense because once you are not in the spotlight)! This show was about myths...do you understand what myths mean? It is a untrue statement that has been passed down for generations. Yes...maybe the verbage could have been presented better but after all it is a TV show with ratings..so I will clear it up as best as possible. There is no such thing as a white women taking our men, it is about black women who choose not to seek outside of there race an seize the opportunity of love. And in the study of interacial relationships it is embedded in the souls of the afro-american community that dates back to slavery. The past was unjust it still haunts the very root of us and only time will dilute the encryption. The darker skin was used for breeding, rather it be white, black, or any other race. We were a tool, our bodies were no longer sacret. So for years the mind, soul, was not prevalent. So we started making a stand to be heard and not desired...independant or others used what was taught to them; their body as a vessel. For the afro-american man he was taught to breed as well, but he didn't have to take responsibily for a family that would be sold or used by the dominant race of that time. He was also taught that it was okay for white man to have belly warmers even if was the one he loved. The black man could have as many as black women as he wanted but there was something left to be desired a white women

First and Foremost: To all of the women who have been bashing this show and calling it unnecessary-this show was not meant for African American women to bash black men for dating white women. When that topic was discussed, I believe that the intent was to uncover the issues of why black women are seen as the less desired race when it comes to dating. I myself am only 17 years old and a senior in high school. Even as young as I am, I have noticed and discussed many of the topics that were brought to light in this episode. And in response to the poster who left this comment: "Tough titty said the kitty when the milk went dry" You're telling Tyra to become more mature and yet you're using taunting phrases that I heard when I was seven years old. Try using your own advice and grow up.Tyra I watch your show everyday. Days that you bring up topics on your show such as this one inspires me to be proud and embrace myself as a young and intelligent African American teenager. I especially appreciated you and your discussion of stereotypical roles in the acting world for African American actresses. I believe that that is a topic that is not discussed and opened enough in the entertainment world. Another topic that I found interesting was the discussion of weight and self-image. Black women and teenagers as well are looked down upon in their society as "weak" or "stupid" when we try to open up about our problems, dreams, and aspirations. (As you can see by some of the responses by online readers)Though I am a virgin I just wanted to get this off my chest: Men know good and well that when they see someone of a

Hi Tyra, I would like to say that I am a 25yr old black woman married to a wonderful white man. I have dated black men before I met and married my husband. I want to say that I am not with husband because there are not any good black men out there; I am with my husband because I love him. I have black and white friends who go thought the same issues such as “baby mama drama” or the “cheating man” problem.I recent years I have notice that a lot of young black women who are lesbians and that is a growing trend and I would like to know why so many are lesbians. Hopefully you can have a forum on that topic.

I'm sticking to Oprah. This show just proves how immature her quality of topics are. W-A-N-N-B-E-E Oprah. I was outraged by this show. If some black women are upset that black men date outside their race well then guess what? "Tough titty said the kitty when the milk went dry" Grow up and be a real women and find yourself and stop playing the blame game. Never watching this lame show again.

To Korissa: For your damn information us black women aren't having a pitty party. Some of us black women are just telling the truth. You told us to get over it. No you need shut the hell up. You need to get over yourself. TO Everybody: It's easy for you to say what you said. Nobody every say anything bad about women in your race. I think that black men, people from other races, and the media don't treat black women the same as other women in other races as far as relatinship wise or sexually wise. They always say that all black women have bad attitudes, demanding, not open minded when it comes to sex, or gold diggers. THAT IS NOT TRUE, NOT ALL BLACK WOMEN ARE LIKE THAT. THERE ARE SOME NICE AND SEXY BLACK WOMEN OUT HERE THAT WILL TREAT A MAN VERY GOOD LIKE ME. I feel that some people in other races don't find black women as beautiful as other women in other races because our skin is darker, or our hair is thicker. NO MATTER WHAT THOSE PEOPLE SAY ABOUT BLACK WOMEN, I THINK US BLACK WOMEN ARE BEAUTIFUL AND SEXY. IF THEY DON'T WANT TO DATE US BECAUSE OF THOSE STEREOTYPES OR BECAUSE OF HOW WE LOOK THEN SCREW THEM AND IT'S THEIR LOST. All I'm saying is that black women should e treated the same as other women s far as relationship wise and sexually wise. I THINK ALL WOMEN SHOULD BE TREATED THE SAME.

I just watch Black Women: State of the Union 2008. & I was APPALLED. Tyra, I used to have so much respect for you and saw you as a role model. Now it seems like you have a hidden resentment for white women like myself. I'm regretful that I ever said you were beautiful and inspiring. I'll never watch your show again. But you probably don't care because I'm white, after all.

i am a 23 year old female with no children, no boyfriend, and i feel for my age yes i do have a SLIGHT advantage over most of my peers. in my experiences, and i know i'm young, i haven't been able to meet too many black men whom are either on my level or willing to even meet half way! i was raised around intelligent, strong, independent African American females; which in turn brought me to be the strong, intelligent, independent young woman i am. up until my senior year of high school i had never dated guys my age; my boyfriends were always at least six years my senior. the older i became the more i realized that wasn't what was suppose to be occurring, so i made a conscious decision to give all types of men a chance. you have to take the good with the bad, and the way i see it, what didn't kill me only allowed my eyes to open up to the things that i will and will not accept in a relationship or in life for that matter! i currently live in a predominantly white neighborhood, which is surrounded by four maximum security state prisons, where the black guys basically only date white girls, and the white girls will only date the black guys. because they are so few, where does that leave me?. i am a Brooklyn native. so this is not all i know. i've lived in many other states, most recently Georgia! my travels have allowed me to experience different men at different levels. i'm not at all closed minded when it comes to interracial dating; i myself have dated other races. however, my preference is black men. at my current state in my life i don't want

This is in response to Vincent's comment about black women and their dreaded "bad attitude" problem. I'd just like to start by saying WHOA. Really, what is is your problem? All black women don't have a bad attitude. All black women do NOT think it's cute or cool to try and pass off blatantly bad behavior by acting like it's synonymous with strength. What women are YOU hanging around with? Sounds to me like you should take a little bit more time to address your own problems and try not to sound so hateful and bitter when you describe, what I suspect are the women of your own race. I don't think that bad attitude is what you have a problem with, I think that a woman who isn't afraid to be her own woman is what you have a problem with. Chill out man. That wasn't cool at all.

As a white woman I have to say that I watch the Tyra show on many occasions, i have it recorded for every episode that appears on Oxygen network. Usually I really enjoy the show they have diverse topics that other talk shows do not but in the last two months alone I have seen at least three episodes with controversy between black and white women. The issues that are always brought up in these episodes are about the struggles that african american woman face in society, which usually have to deal with white woman and them taking the african american women's men. I believe there is a very crucial issue here because if any light skinned woman had this same topic for one of their episodes saying the things Tyra and the audience had to say about white woman that this would become an epidemic. Tyra had all these statistics about black woman and how they are lowest group to get married, but do you ever wonder if this is for a reason? I am not racist in the least bit but you guys are always bragging about how independent and successful you are so why is it so difficult for you to find someone you can invest your life with? I can recall one episode where a black woman said that white woman are easy and that is why african american men are so attracted to them, but in recent statistics african american woman were the highest group in society for teen pregnancy and sexual transmitted diseases. So the next time you want to make an episode devoted to black history month maybe you should celebrate how far african americans have come and celebrate the people who made it happen, instead of spending a whole hour whining about the

In order to make reparations for my non-politically correct attitude on the matter, I have to try and sound like mine is a very educated, experienced authority on the issue, apparently. I won't even bother. I'm going to just be real and tell the ugly truth. I'm just a regular 25 year old woman, who happens to be black. I graduated from high school with honors and made at least a 3.5 every semester that I didn't get a 4.0 in college, until I had to drop out to take care of my three youngest brothers. I'm not so very enlightened that I wasn't annoyed about the subject of this show, and not so very hypocritical that I lack the courage of my convictions where I just can't say what I feel out loud. Racism, and any bitterness associated with it is unpleasant, but it bears at least a little bit of honesty. It's not just a feeling other races feel towards us as a black people, it's also a feeling some of us feel toward ourselves and each other. I would love for people who love each other to be able to live, let live and be happy; no matter what their color. That would be great. But we must confess that a black woman doesn't have the same chances as any other woman on the planet in that. If she is a woman who is strikingly beautiful, successful, talented in the popular arts, or rich; she has a pretty good chance of getting a fine, similarly placed black man. And if she isn't, these days, the only way that she is going to get an upwardly mobile, decent black man, or any other color man for that matter, is if she's mixed and very much in denial of
