Hey Tyra. To comment on the subject, I am also a single mother, but it isn't by choice. My baby's father knows about the child but refuses to come around and be in his life. He is taking out his anger against me against our beautiful 1 year old son. The thing that gets me so upset is that he has other kids and they are all girls; this is his one and only son. One would think that he would want a special bond with his only son but it doesn't seem to phase him. Unfortunately, a lot of African-American women don't make the decision to be single mothers; we are placed in these roles because of the actions of our counterparts. My mother was a single mom and my sister is also a single mother. I know that women can raise kids by themselves but it is hard. Many women say that it won't happen to them; that their man is different and will always be there for her and their child/ren. I said the same thing and my baby's father told me the same thing and I believed him. I know that if it wasn't for God giving me the strength to go on, I don't know where I would be.

HELLO TYRA I LUV YOUR SHOW AND I AM ONE OF THOSE SINGLE MOMS NOT BY CHOICE BUT BY MY HUSBAND HAVING A REALLY BAD DRUG PROBLEM AND ENDING UP IN PRISON AND WE DON'T KNOW HOW LONG YET. WE HAD THREE BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN AND THEY DONT UNDERSTAND ALL THIS BUT I DO MY BEST TO CONSULT THEM AND LET THEM KNOW THAT EVERYTHING IS OTAY EVEN THOUGH! THEY ARE OLD ENOUGH NOW TO KNOW WHEN THINGS ARE NOT THEY ARE 11,10&7 AND KIDS KNOW MORE THAN WHAT WE THINK THEY KNOW.ON TOP OF THIS OUR HOUSE BURNT DOWN AND EVERYTHING IS JUST GONE AND WE ARE LIVIN FROM HERE TO THERE UNTIL AN APARTMENT IS VAC. I am a single parent of a 11 year old son. Although, I admit it was and still is hard trying to raise a child by yourself, it can be done. I always said, that I would try my hardest "not to be a single parent again" it has happended. I am now expecting. I refused to get a rid of my bundle on joy just to please the people who are around me. I think taking life away is selfish. With GOD everything is possible. That is why I believe I will be okay. Afterall, my children will be 12 years apart. Although I face some trying times, I am willing, waiting and proud! :)
I've been a daughter of a single mother for all my life and not once did i ever think that my mom was selfish my mom is a strong woman and she doesn't need no man to help her, it probably help finacialy but my mom worked it out and she didn't have to sell no dope or sell herself!And I'm proud of my mom!and now shes married so I'm happy for her!
Hello Tyra The one true problem with every race is not the other races around us. It's the ones in a particular race that makes the race as a whole look bad. Then we sit around and point fingers at others around us for the problems we create within or for the problems we refuse to work on as a whole. I said all that just to say this oppression doesn't start outside the race it starts within!!!!!!!
I am a single mom of three, I did not choose to be single and struggle. The jack A** chose to be a dead beat. It's quite the opposite and selfishless to raise your kids with lots of love and some. Not giving up on being the best parent I can be because their selfish father wants to be a dead beat. The selfish choice is made by the fathers 80 to 90 percent of the time. It is a huge strength for a single mom imo.

I forgot to add.. whats worse then being a single mother, is being a TEENAGE single mother with little or no support. Tyra you should do a show about that! :)
like me im a single mom but i didnt choose to be , some farthers are dead beats and dont do nothing for there kids , my son farther says the same bull everyday and every year im trying im tyring , all he do is try not to come near me he still wants me but i dont want somone thats not doing for his own blood , sleep with me and not do for his son, men are sick creatures lol.
I AM a single mother of two. I DON'T need a man to take care of me and my two beautiful kids. Thats what GOD is for. He promises to provide all of our needs so when and if needed he'll provide a father for my kids. I agree that children should be raised in a two parent home if possible. But thats not always the case. As for what would happen to my kids if any thing happened to me, I have a very supportive, and loving family that would take care of them if need be. Being a single mom isn't easy by all means but it IS POSSIBLE :) For all you single moms out there keep doing what your doing :) For there is no better gift than the gift of life :)
Hey Tyra, i think that these single woman should find a man to take care of them and there kids because they cant take care of there children by there self what would happen if there mother got hurt and the child didn't know what to do thats why i think that these woman shuold have a man in there life in case something happens to one of these mothers they can esley get hurt by somebody they don't know and be in the hospiltal and there children not know were there moms are..... And for all those single dads out there why would you take your child away from there mothers yall are not the ones who had to go throu 9MONHS of careing yalls kids and yall are just going to take are kids away from US I DONT THINK SO. just because your man enoght to stick yalls D**ks in dont mean that you have the wright to take are babys away from us if yall dont want babys then yall shouldn't be so F**king horney
Hey Tyra. I love your show so much I watch it daily!! Thank you so much for your encouragement and advice to girls like me. I also agree that A baby should have both a father and a mother. However if someone decides to have a baby without a father I would fully support them!!
