Dr. Calvert is a board-certified plastic surgeon. His practice focuses on rhinoplasty, facelifts, breast surgery, and body contouring procedures. Dr. Calvert recommends you take these steps when researching and choosing a plastic surgeon.

  • ASK FOR REFERRALS: Talk to your primary care doctor, family and friends, or patients you know who have had good plastic surgery experiences. The best referrals come from trusted sources.

  • CHECK BOARD CERTIFICATION: Check the doctor's status of board certification in the field of plastic surgery at the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), www.abms.org
  • INTERNET RESOURCES: The American Society of Plastic Surgeons is a great place to find a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area. The website is www.plasticsurgery.org
  • SOCIETY MEMBERSHIPS: Find out if your surgeon is a member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS); a plastic surgeon cannot be a member of this society unless he or she is board-certified.
  • STATE LICENSING: Check with the state board of medicine to see if your physician is licensed in the state where you are planning your operation.
  • HOSPITAL PRIVILEGES: Find out if your surgeon has privileges to perform your operation at the local hospital. If they do, it means that the medical staffing board of the hospital believes the surgeon is properly trained and credentialed to perform the operation you are having.
  • MALPRACTICE HISTORY: Malpractice suits can be checked through a number of avenues, but may require that you make a trip to the county courthouse to check your doctor. Internet resources are robust in most states.
  • TRAINING: Verify credentials and training.
  • SPECIALTY PROCEDURES: Choose a surgeon known for the procedure you wish to have. Most plastic surgeons have several operations that are their favorite and that they are known for, consistently generating excellent results.
  • MALPRACTICE COVERAGE: Verify malpractice insurance coverage. It is important to know if your surgeon has made a commitment to his patients by carrying some type of malpractice insurance.
  • CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION: It is useful to know if your surgeon attends local and national meetings to keep up on the latest technology. A commitment to on-going education is a sign that your surgeon has not kicked back into relaxation mode.
  • ADVERTISING: Advertising has become quite common for plastic surgeons, dermatologists, facial plastic surgeons, and anti-aging physicians of all types. The market is competitive and advertising is a way to spread the word. However, a large amount of advertising does not necessarily mean anything. You must still look at all of the items listed above and make your own judgment.

Hi tyra, My twin sister and I love your show. I am 38 years old, I look like I'm 28 years old, but my breast look like they are 8o years old. My breast are so droopy, due to having my son, who is now 11 years old. I love my son and I don't blame him, I blame mother nature. My breast don't look normal any more. I feel so embarrassed when I'm with my man. I can never take off my bra in front of him, because I'm so afraid he will think my breast are terrible looking like an old grandma's breasts. I can't wear boober tube tops either. When I sit down my breast touch my lap. My identical twin sister who has a similar problem with her breast. Ten years ago she wanted to lose fifty pounds, so she went on a cabbage soup diet and even though she lost all the weight, she lost her breasts too. She was a 36/B and now she is flatter than a 32/A. She is very flat chested. She has no breasts at all any more. Her chest looks like a boys chest, she has to wear pads in a bra and she can never take her bra or her top off in front of her man either. My twin sister is in desperate need of a breast inlargment and I'm in desperate need of a breast lift. We can't afford a plastic surgen, My twin sister and I have tried all kinds of pills but they don't work and It is so hard to find an affordable plastic surgen. We are asking for your help to find the right plastic surgen, so we can both feel confident and whole again. Thank you Tyra and God Bless you.

Hi tyra, i have been considering plastic surgery for a long time, i cant even look at myself in the mirror becuase all i do is criticize myself and cry. I need help tyra i would love to be on your show so i could get some advice about what i should do. Some days i dont even want to leave the house becuase its so bad. tyra help!

Tyra,i don"t think you need a plastic surgeon. You are beatiful the way you are. I have a lazy eye too. When i was born i had crossed eyes. i had to have a patch on each eye every day for two years! then i got surgery to fix my eyes so i would not see double all the time. My left eye is the lazy eye, but i think it is cool, it is what makes me unique. Sure, people make fun of me here and there sometimes, but that is life, and i deal with it. i do not run as fast as everyone else does.Because it took me a while how to run but i learned how too. number 1 fan, hannah luse, 11

Hello Tyra, Wow! My mom, sister, and I watch your show almost every night. Until getting on your web site, I didn't know how many young viewers you have. I think you are an amazing person with a personality that I think is rare in a lot of people. The reason I am writing this is because I have a few problems that I am unsure what to do about it. When I was 3 years old I was bit by a dog. I was the 8th child this dog bit and there was a big legal battle over putting the dog down. I really didn't care either way, heck I was too young to know anything about it. When the dog bit me, it pretty much ripped off my whole top lip and left a hole on my check. The ER doctor did the best he could to repair me. He did an amazing job on my lip leaving a very small scar. However, on my check there were some problems and I ended up having reconstructive surgery. I am now 22 years old and it still really bothers me. I think it is because growing up with it children can be soooooo mean. My family says that it is not noticable but I really don't beleive them. I don't even know if plastic surgery will help but any advise someone could give would be great. I am not sure if it is because I feel held back because of the scars and feel like if I can improve other parts of my body would make me feel better about myself. Is there anything that actually works to make your breast larger? I have heard that there is nothing that is natural that make them larger but I don't

I just recently went to a dermatologist because I have a cyst on my cheek. I was hoping he could do something about it at the office but he told me the only thing that can be done is to go to a plastic surgeon because of the location and because my skin is flawless on the rest of my face. I don't have health insurance and I defiantely don't have the money to afford plastic surgery to get the cyst taken off. I don't know what to do and I don't want my face to be scarred for life. (The dermatologist said the cyst is the size of a fifty cent piece!!) The cyst swells with fluid for awhile then goes down. Right now it isn't too visible but it really bothers me because I know its there and I hate it when I'm not wearing makeup. Any advice? Anyone??

Hi Tyra, My name is Nathalia and my sister and I LOOOVE your show. I'm 15 years old and my sister is 14 and your topics are wonderful. Being teenage girls, we're very self conscious about the way we look. But i feel that i am a little more than my sister. People say we look alike so most of the time we are compared to each other. Although im older, she's taller and has a better body figure. And that bothers me because i've been on countless diets, I'm always watching what i eat and constantly exercising , just to maintain a good weight. And she eats anything she wants, NEVER exercises and doesnt gain ANYTHING! I've been trying to loose some weight and it just isnt happening. At times it gets frustrating. Being in highschool and everything, image is really important. Im not the type that cares what others think, but when i look in the mirror i like to feel good about myself and at times i dont. Now that summer's here, the pressure is even worse. No teenage girl wants to have a gut, or cellulite on her legs. And i play soccer soo i am athletic but i just cant seem to get my body the way i would like it to be. I was hoping that you would have some suggestions as to better eating habits, or certain exercises that i could do, and i was actually thinking about trying that Nivea Goodbye Cellulite cream. I saw that episode where the women took the challenge and the results were amazing. If you could get back to me, that would be great. Thanksss a bunchhh, Nathalia

I think you're gorgeous and a wonderful person. But I think your show focuses too much on superficial issues. I think it's because you've been a model all your life and everything you know is modeling and being beautiful. Your show always has something to do with, makeup, skin, plastic surgery, being sexy, body parts, things like that. I think there's more important things to have on your show than that. No disrespect to you because like I said I think your beautiful and I like ANTM.
