I am only 16 years old and wanting to do something fo myself. . . I want to become a model I am 5"8, i was born in El Paso Tx. I want to do what is my pasion which is modeling. People think I am very mature for my age and i truly blame that on the obstacles that have been put in front of me. . . to get deeper i lost my father when I was eleven. . . and lost my mother not completly well I would say comepletly she left me and my little brother with my grandmother since we are not children of her new husband she wanted nothing to do with us. . . I dont want to get in to deep. my brother is only six years old and the he is the love of my life he is very young but has showed me that I can do what ever I desire... i think i have been more than a sister to him I feel like my grandmother and I have been like mothers to him. . . I feel like I have sufferred enough and put myself down too much I sufferred form anorexia and bulemia. . . and I want to pursue my dream for my brother and me. . .

Hi. Im striving to be a model, but I don't really know how to break into it. I attended a model search for the Kim Dawson agency. I think I did pretty good. But the only thing is...Im short. Really short to try and be a model. In fact im only 5' 3''. I know there's probably no way I can become a runway model, but I know I would be really good for commercial print. Do you have any advice on how I could actually live my dream? Oh yeah, Im 17, African American, and a female.

Hey Tyra...my name is Kedra and i am a 16 year old African American girl.I have some questions and concerns that i would like to share with you.well first of all i love fashion and i'm the kind of person that if my outfit is not on point...my whole day is ruined.One of my favorite things i love to do is wear high heels.I love heels.People who know me knows i'm a heel lover.I try to wear heels 24/7(if that was possible)....i've even gotten nick names like "heels" or "miss model"....lol.I do want to be a model though.I'm not gonna say I have always wanted to be a model since i was little because then i would be lieing but i've had this dream since i was 14 or ever since I started wearing heels to school....and yes i even wear heels to school....i wear it everywhere.....lol....People tell me i should be a model....even people i barely meet just come up to me and tell me that.....they still do it now and it's no new news to me because i here it so much...I even had this incident one day i was walking out the bank and this guy was yelling "excuse me miss" and I looked back and it was a deacon from my church.The Sunday before we had a Women's Day and i was apart of the event....he said he was tryin to catch up with me after it was over but he didnt see me but he said that the Lord told him that I should get into modeling....and I smiled in amazment and I told him thats what i want to be....and he said God told him that i should pursue that dream...so I think i'm destined to become a model.I really want to do something about that but my mom dosen't really have the money to put me in modeling classes...but if she did...i know i would be struting...lol...but my problem is that i'm "supposedly" tall....like I have long legs and short torso....but even though I look tall I'm only about 5'5...weighing about 113...I research and they expect u to be a least 5'7...but i still have some time to grow but if I'm not exactly "model height" what do I do? Hey Tyra!

You have been such an inspiration to me, your story of how you weren't looked upon as the "beautiful girl", or the "popular girl" to becoming one of the biggest supermodels ever really encourages me. Tyra I've been teased before for my dark, exotic features, and would get picked on all the time. At one point it seemed like the world was against, or at least everyone at school. No one wanted to be my friend their would be whispers about me, and the people who were suppose to be my friend turned against me and would talk about me too! I hated going to school, I went from being high honor roll student to getting c's something I use to never get. Before all the teasing I use to be very outgoing and friendly, it has caused me to become more insecure when it comes to social things and who I can trust. Now im starting to come out of my shell and letting go of the thing that has stopped me from so much, im now learning to let go and live my life. I've always had this dream of becoming an actress, people say it all the time but acting is my life, I've always been drawn to the arts, for me its my outlet from life. I've never been raised up around a lot of money and acting was one of the few things I could do without spending a lot of money on, and was the one thing I could do for free, locally. Now im starting to really get into modeling, runways and high fashion. I dream of how cool it would be to become a model and become art. Tyra I know I can do it, I know I have all the potential in the world to become the greatest. I know it, and im striving for it, I'm trying to reach my dreams Tyra, but even though i've overcome the past of harsh judgement how do you believe in yourself and become great when your own mother doesn't support you and doesn't belive in you and your dreams? The America's Next top model show was here in Roanoke, Va on July 19th. And because my daughter wasn't tall they crushed her dreams! My daughter and I watch your show faithfully. I think it's a shame just because you're not 5'7'' you don't have the opportunity to become a supermodel, but not everybody is tall so why should you be a certain height. You are a big influence on my daughter's life, and on the show it seems like you are all for the girls and very concern about giving them a chance to be America's next top model, but what about my daughter. We are from Va and not a lot of opportunities come our way, so for that man to just crush her dreams it makes her feel different about the show and everything that comes with it. Hopefully she wont give up but you was her motivation, but you didn't give her the opportunity to be on the show. I knew she wasn't tall enough but I told her to try anyway because she have all the model qualifications except height, and that is not FAIR!
