MESSAGE FROM TYRA: What's Up with the Vaseline?

Hi Everybody,

I had a ball giving away that bejeweled VASELINE on the show! I really have used it since I was a little girl, and my mom is addicted to it too. I hope you all got my joke when I was acting all crazy. I was acting all high energy and super excited about the VASELINE giveaway because I was spoofing the time Oprah gave away cars on her show a few years ago. In fact, I actually studied that Oprah episode and copied her body movements and phrases she used, exactly like she did them. But a spoof wouldn't be a spoof without a little (or a lot) of exaggeration, so I had to be over the top with it. If you noticed, we put my VASELINE jar on a key chain to push the Oprah car spoof up one extra notch. It was soooooo much fun. I made sure my office called Oprah's office to make sure they knew it was all in fun. I love Oprah, and she has a great sense of humor and I wanted to make sure she knew the spoof was all in love. She's my idol. I actually pay MAJOR homage to Oprah on "America's Next Top Model" this season. It's coming up so you have to watch "Top Model" to see what I do. It's a lot of love, mixed with a lil' bit of spoof, done in that campy way we do things on "Top Model."

But getting back to the Vaseline. Years ago, Vaseline heard I was a fan of the product, and they sent me a bling bling jar of the product. I loved that hot little jar of Vaseline and wanted to share that with my audience. Each jar I gave to the studio audience was worth $100. I know that's a whole lotta money for some Vaseline, but it's because they were all hand beaded with Swarovski crystals. But underneath all that bling is just a regular jar of Vaseline that you can get at the drugstore or in your own medicine cabinet. I have been reading your messages and a lot of you are concerned that putting Vaseline on your face is not the best thing to do. I have very dry skin, so Vaseline is great for the skin on my face. But if you have oily or acne prone skin, you should probably keep the 'LINE (nickname for Vaseline - pronounced "LEENE") off of your face.

Today, my feet were really ashy, and I put some Vaseline on them before I put my socks on. I just got home. (I went to the movies today to see CRANK. That movie ROCKED. It was sooooo good. It was really violent though and has some sexual stuff that is too strong for the young'uns out there. So I am NOT recommending that people under 18 years old see it! That Jason Stratham - star of the flick - is one sexy dude.) But anyway, I came home from the movies and took my socks off and my feet were ash free. They were glowing!!! Vaseline came to the rescue!!!

I wanna thank all of you for all of your tips on how to get rid of my rough hands. I am trying your advice. I tried the tip today that one of you gave me that involves baking soda. My hands are soft, Soft, SOFT! I'm going to keep trying the tips. Thanks everybody!!!

Hey Tyra, I think your shows are great. I just recently heard about your love for vaseline and thought how cool. I've also been using it since i was a kid...around the eyes, for dry legs and feet and especially on the lips. it's addictive! and it works! BUT, 2 years ago after i had my son, i discovered 100% pure lanolin for the use on sore cracked nipples lol. breast feeding was short lived for me, and i had a whole tube of this stuff left. i did some research and found out that it is also an ancient beauty secret. i actually prefer it to vaseline and it's all natural! I finished by vat of vaseline a while ago, so i will definitely stock up! can't wait for Wednesday to watch my favorite show. Cheers, Lisa Jansen from Toronto, Canada

Courtney: A co-worker of mine had a problem with moist hands. She could rub her hands together and water would literally pour from her hands. My aunt is a nurse and I asked her about it. She said it is called Hyperhydrosis. My co-worker went to the doctor and "told him the name of her condition" and he prescribed some powder. It worked in no time at all. I don't know the name of the powder, but if you mention hyperhydrosis to your physician, maybe he can prescribe something.

Hey Tyra, Creams with smoothing ingredients like aloe vera and chamomile are considered to be best in handling dryness and redness of skin.You can use grounded coconut meat and rub it in your skin while you are taking shower. And you will see if the grated coconut meat turns to black then your skin is just need a little bit care.You can use papaya leaves to rub it in your skin. You grab some fresh papaya leaves then use it to scrub your skin. Put mild soap in the leaves before scrubbing it in your body to take out the texture of the leaf. You can use oranges skin to scrub it in your skin too. Or aloe Vera plant as skin cream. There are many products that you can choose to work with your skin. Some products are making your skin worst so you have to test which one is good for you. hello, tyra i know your top pick is about using vaseline, but i would really like for u to invite Lupe fiasco to yo show. because i would like to see him on your show. i watch your show all the time. you are such a good person, i would just love to see him on your show. i also love the way u stand for your self other women around the world. so about Lupe Fiasco i love his music and how he's so different from other hip-hop rapper's. my dream is to meet him in person one day. so tyra if u get this message, i hope u think about it. because i don't even have to on your show, i would watch your tv show at home and just to see him on your show. so tyra please invite him to your lovely show. god bless u maryann

You obviously don't have time to draft these messages yourself, but why'd you settle down for hiring uber-bubbly tenth graders to write this up for you? Sure, your message exudes your upbeat personality so to speak, but it shouldn't reach the level of sounding immature and slightly airheaded. It's obvious that you look up to Oprah a lot and it's fine, because a lot of women do. Just try to be more original...in everything. Good luck.

Hi Tyra, I also use vasaline like everyday..i was wondering where i can get a bejewled bottle of vasaline? I also watched your 500th episode today and can not find the tampon and pad little carrying case..can you point me in the right direction?
